Babble Bar & Cafe’s iconic weatherboard premises on the corner of Izett Street and Chatham Street in Prahran has long been a destination for those looking for quality gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian food on Melbourne. But green-thumbed cuisine doesn’t exhaust the possibilities at this local favourite – Babble offer a comprehensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, and there’s plenty of freshly roasted Griffith’s coffee on tap all day long. Virtually everything on Babble’s breakfast menu is or can be tweaked to be gluten-free or vegan, from the Salute To The Sun breakfast salad to the big vegetarian Old Faithful brekkie. Carnivores have more to chew on come lunch and dinner, with highlights like the Babble beef burger and sticky fig rack of lamb best washed down with a super juice (with optional shot of vodka or gin!), local Doss Blockos beer, or glass of Aussie red.
Delicious food, plenty of options, and great value for money. The wait staff were an absolute joy. Coeliacs/gluten intolerant will be pleased to hear that they took all care and precautions for my coeliac partner, right down to a warning that the milkshakes weren't GF.
