Fantastic Thai cuisine, friendly service and a charming atmosphere all comes together to make Basils Black one of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants. The food on offer is high end and delicious, but the prices are incredibly affordable, giving you all the more reason to visit this standout South Morang restaurant as often as possible. Plus, with such friendly service, it’ll be hard to resist stopping at this restaurant when your cravings strike.
Melbourne’s Basils Black takes rice to unforeseen levels, with options like tom yum fried rice, pineapple fried rice and green curry rice. If you’re in the mood for something comforting and delicious, the Thai street beef noodle soup is a soul-satisfying dish, as is the fragrant minced pork and soft tofu soup made with seaweed, spring onion and fresh coriander. For a hearty meal, we recommend the grilled lamb shoulder or the beef with cashew nuts. End your meal with an order of Thai tea panna cotta or homemade ice cream before heading back out onto South Morang’s Gorge Road.
