I found the food was excellent ambiance of the restaurant excellent, service was a bit slow and at times confused.. but otherwise definitely go again and recommend to friends

Seems like management has changed. Menu has been reduced to lesser items. No goat curry, no crispy noodles, no pho ... and papaya salad doesn't have same ingredients as before. Still lovely dinner but has changed slightly.

Great food and very pleasant, attentive staff! The spring rolls were delicious, as was the whole snapper with tamarind sauce. There's also a reasonable choice of wines.

Excellent food and service in stylish surrounds. The whole barramundi was amazing, all sauces exploded with flavour and all dishes served with mountains of fresh greens.

Deliciously tasty and fresh food . Trading plates worked well with a group . Plenty of vegetarian options . Best Vietnamese pancake around ! We will return !

Great food - love the 'tapas' style menu the most. Staff wee friendly and attentive. Seats are comfy. Sat downstairs for the first time - it was a little quieter and very nice. All great and at a good price.

The food is consistently delicious at this restaurant. The menu is quite extensive, with something for everyone. Even the desert is yum! I particularly like the pyramid ice cream.

Ok, but overpriced for what it was.service was good, we had two average size dishes and a salad and it was $75 and we BYO wine.

We had an excellent meal - the ingredients very fresh and we particularly enjoyed the soft shell crab and the duck. It's a popular restaurant and was very busy but we were in no hurry. We've dined here several times and will return.

Great food and service. Vietnamese cuisine with a modern twist. Great wine list and reasonably priced. Nice ambience - book to avoid disappointment. You'll be happy with the entres and desserts, let alone the huge mains.

Great food but v noisy on a Saturday night. Excellent service. Could be more vegetarian options. Plenty of easy parking in the side streets off Marrickville road.

Bau Truong remains one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the inner west, especially if you can't drive to Cabramatta. The food is authentic and interesting, the choices are expansive. The wine menu is good, though corkage a little steep. The service is good, though it can be a little slow for large tables on a busy night. Highly recommended.

We eat here regularly and are never disappointed. The food and service were absolutely fabulous. Would recommend to everyone. You will not be disappointed. Irene Shute

Delicious Vietnamese food with a whole lot of GF options. Lots of share plates from a large tapas style menu. Great service and vibe in a modern setting. Licensed it BYO wine. Highly recommended for groups or couples.

Prompt courteous service and great tasting food as usual. We had to get our daughter to the airport after so were very mindful of the time but no problems.

Lovely fragrant food, and a very cool place in the heart of Marrickville. My family of 4 really enjoyed it. Will definitely go back for more!

Really great food - interesting flavours and plenty of choices. Closed a bit early though (830pm on Thursday night) so we were the last ones there with a 730 booking and felt a bit rushed at the end. Would have liked to stay for dessert which looked fantastic

Friendly staff, great food, nice atmosphere. However, one dishes was forgotten. Wasn't a big deal and the staff were very apologetic and offered to bring it out immediately but we had moved onto dessert. Besides this very minor hiccup I would highly recommended this place.

Great food and service (Saturday night, so was very busy). Good value but very noisy. Loved the crispy chicken, pancake, pork, beans with anchovies and salads, of course. Highly recommended.

The Vietnamese "Tapas" style of small entrees for 2 people was great to get variety in our birthday dinner. Served not too fast in appropriate compatible flights of say 2 choices at a time. So much to choose from - all are favourites really. Service super friendly - even the owner does menial jobs to help his staff when very busy or swapping Champagne glasses for the normal ones when he sees a bottle in the ice bucket whilst passing by. Lots of topping up your water glasses and swapping plates for most courses (must be a big dishwasher!). Nothing is too hard eg swapping prawns for the calamari in the salt & pepper item on the Menu. Ate heaps for special meal ans 4 people cost around $145.

Typical Vietnamese food ... fresh produce, delicate flavours. But interesting, technical and very, very extensive menu ... although a little overwhelming. So enjoyable that we'll need to go back and try some others.

The food is deliciously fresh and the dishes arrived with service that was sensibly paced to ensure that you could savour the food- not rush it. There was a bit of a mix up with the rice that arrived with the last of the main meals, making it a little redundant - the waitress needing to be reminded that we had ordered rice ... the same waitress mixing up our dessert order with a 'trio' of ice-cream and not the 'taro' we had ordered. This was understandable as the restaurant was quite busy - we were just a little disappointed that she did not offer to fix the problem. The restaurant is excellent nevertheless and the menu is extensive. We have visited this restaurant a number of times and we are always impressed.

Delicious! Lovely service. This time we went on a Sunday night which was quiet but we've also been on a Saturday night when it's busy and the service was just as good both times. The bites menu is a fantastic way to eat. This is a favourite restaurant.

The food was great. However, the service was not consistent and very slow. The waiters were all over the place with our orders, with some forgotten.

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Tried some interesting new dishes, had some traditional favourites and all with attentive, good service. We just wished we could have tried the grilled bananas for dessert!

There was good service, the atmosphere was very nice and it had good food. We had a very good time there. We will come back soon.

We had a most enjoyable night out in your restaurant. The food, presentation, portion size, atmosphere, cleanliness, were highly appreciated. The head waiter was most helpful. I am so sorry that I didn't ask for his name! He suggested our entrée sizes as there were 5 of us. He even helped to take a group photo so that I could post it on FB! We appreciated the cold water offered and the fact the icy water had ice in it was really good as yesterday afternoon was hot. The other wait staff were good as they continually filled our glasses. The wet hand towels were gratefully received as we all had sweet sticky dipping sauces on our fingers! The only minor drawback to the night was that our plates needed to be changed and this wasn't done unless I asked for it. The reason being was we ordered chicken and pork chops which both have bones. These bones got in the way on our small eating plates when we tried to eat our noodles or beef cubes. We had as our guests one from the USA and two from interstate. They all liked the food and the service. So we'll come again. We don't live locally but we'll make every effort to come back as often as possible. Thank you. Regards, Myrtle Lau.

GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE. REALLY ENJOYED THE EVENING. A BUSY RESTAURANT THAT CATERS FOR BOTH SMALL AND LARGE GROUPS. DEFINITELY GOING BACK. TASTING MENU IS A MUST.

The service was great and the food was good but not as good as I remember last time I went to the restaurant. Overall it was a great night.

very interesting food! they had a main menu and a menu for entrees, so if you are not too hungry you can share a couple of the entrees. The food was great everything was fresh and I honestly never had never seen so Vietnamese dishes at any Vietnamese restaurant

Excellent menu range and every one of the 12 or so dishes we ordered was delicious and also good value. Servings are large compared to some other Vietnamese restaurants and some dishes (e.g. whole Barramundi) could easily be shared between 2. The staff we very helpful and it was absolutely no trouble to move us, a table of 6, downstairs after we had ordered and already had some drinks. Have been twice so far and will happily return!
