Celtic at Metropolitan North Melbourne serves up contemporary dishes that range from all-day breakfast dishes, pub grub classics and hearty Irish fare. This opulent former hotel is located in the former Melbourne Metropolitan Meat Market on Courtney Street which was built in 1874, and the building stays true to its roots retaining some of the original architecture, woodwork and stained glass windows. Nowadays you’ll find a warm welcome at Celtic at Metropolitan alongside amazing food, beer and wine. Some of our favourite dishes at Celtic North Melbourne include the Metro beef burger with BBQ bourbon marinated beef, caramelized onion, bacon, tomato relish and American jack cheddar; Irish lamb stew slow-cooked in a Guinness broth with root vegetables and crusty bread and the lentil and sweet potato pie. It took a while for the food to come out even for the dessert. My steak was underseasoned and the rest of the order were mediocre at best.
Staff were fabulous. Atmosphere lovely with fireplace and lounges for pre lunch drink and space for toddlers to move. The vegan sweet potato pie with chips and salad was beautiful! Highly recommend. Thank you
