Food was reasonably tasty with some good options for those of us who are slice challenged. Space is very small with small tables and stools so was a bit uncomfortable after a while.

Funky Thai restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous food and nice venue. Cocktails were great too. Worth checking out the specials on the board. Would definitely return and recommend.

Good food there but unfortunately the place is understaffed. it might be because i went on anzac day. Overall it was a pretty good experience

Great food and good location! Thoroughly enjoyed the $1 oyster special but I believe that's now changed to $2? Eitherway good Thai food and nice service too.

Really Great food. Very good service and the place looks amazing. Only bad thing, no dessert. Everything was nice and fresh and the cocktails were awsome.

The food was incredibly good, let down a little by the service, which was OK but a bit ambivalent. It was the first time I'd been, will definitely go again.

The staff was friendly but not so efficient. Food was good, however it needed more excitement. The restaurant overall was good however it has more potential.

Delicious fresh Thai food and great service and atmosphere. The wine list is a bit overpriced but still worth a visit - get the pork belly with Chinese broccoli!

Waiters were friendly and service was good. The food was great except that one of the mains (chicken Pad Thai) was too sour and salty, we couldn’t eat it. Don’t think they have dessert as we waited to see if the waiters would come to offer but no one came.

I Facebook messaged Chalawan prior to going to ask if they did a banquet menu and I was told that they did. On arrival we were told that this was only available if prebooked and paid for online. Service was haphazard, food was good and the wine was half price so that was a nice bonus.

Generally, the food presentation is very nice. I like prawn tom yum soup, som tum the papaya salad & grilled beef scotch fillet. The minus point is the pad Thai too sour because of too much tamarind sauce. The sate chicken is very everage as I don't like it's too soft. The oyesters were not very fresh on that day and I don't like much of the sauce. May be I am not the fan of fresh oysters.

you have to ask for service or to have empty dishes removed from your table to make room. All the tofu is deep fried not fresh. Expensive drinks. Food wasn't bad though.

Amazing food, can't fault it. Unfortunately the service was really slow, a meal was forgotten and everything came out at different times. The service was great the first time I went so not sure if it was just a one off. Would still go back, the food is that good!

Great food , lovely service. We will definitely be back for more. The oysters alone was worth coming in for. The lime sorbet mixes so well with the house made chillies.

Great food and service. I love the deep fried calamari and beef cheek curry. Nice astmosphere. Restaurant was understaffed however. Would love to have that $1 oyster promotion period extend a bit after 7pm.

Good food and pleasant service. Serves were smallish but delectable. Would have preferred to sit on a chair rather than a stool. A very pleasant casual dining experience.

The food is reasonably authentic Thai and the service was good - only complaint is that the cocktails are VERY expensive - not great value even at half price on Friday nights. Better to stick with beer - it goes best with Thai anyway.

The place is tiny but cosy. Be sure to book your table as spaces are limited. We loved everything! Staff was friendly and helpful and food was great. Oysters were an absolute hit - so fresh!

Went with party of 4, service was quick and friendly. We were there mostly for the oysters. They were fabulous! The chilli lime oysters were fresh and super tasty. Everything else was good as well, with a special mention for the Sam Grob. Will certainly be returning.

The only reason Chalawan doesn't get a full score from me is that they ran out of oysters during happy hours. Other than that... GREAT!

After we were seated it took the staff 20 minutes to even give us a drinks menu, which was very much indicative of the service for the rest of the evening, even though they were very quiet when we arrived. The fish curry was good, but the fried tofu and betel leaf entrees were underwhelming.

Not a large space- customers walk past to get their takeaway, which is slightly inconvenient. Food is delicious; and friendly, helpful service! Would definitely recommend.

My second visit since the restaurant opened last year and made a point of coming back to it as I'm from Sydney and was only down for the weekend. Excellent food as expected and lively, friendly staff.

Although the service was a little slow the food was awesome and definitely worth the wait, the food had just the right amount of spice/chilli and was very balanced, would highly recommend.

We had a very pleasant dinner for four at Chalawan. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was fairly prompt on a busy Friday night. To me, the cooking, especially in the curries, is a little bit heavy on the palm sugar, but that didn't stop the food being good. The bill was about $50 per head including drinks.

Food was great! Half price drinks on friday night was a plus! We hoped the portions could be bigger.. especially for the soup dish which only filled up half the serving bowl even though it was meant to be large? Which was kinda strange.

Very decent Thai food, well prepared but but lost some of its edge from its early days. Food was more refined and much more interesting when the restaurant first opened last year. Now playing it safe.

I used to love this restaurant for its inspiring, unique food and good cocktails. However, this time around they completely changed the menu to be similar to the other typical Thai restaurant. The food is nothing to remember of though the cocktails are still nice. The place must have changed the chef or something. In any case, it is such a shame that the menu has changed and there is no unique thing about its food anymore. I probably won't go back there again as I can find the same or better food like this somewhere else at a better price. It has almost no reason for me to go back and pay such a premium to such a normal Thai food. Also, in between our meal, the restaurant decided to turn off the aircon and leave the door opened instead. It was such a hot night and we sat inside the restaurant sweating making the night much less enjoyable :(
