Let the kids play and the adults relax. At Crafternoon, Brunswick’s popular arts and crafts cafe on Sydney Rd, the little ones can paint, paste and play to their heart’s content, with everything provided by the cafe to help them get creative and take home something to be proud of. But it’s not just for kids here. Crafternoon serves up a staggering range of healthy, gourmet meals and organic fair trade coffee to rival Melbourne’s trendiest cafes. Feel good after a breakfast of sauteed lemon mushrooms with hazelnut dukkah, push through with smashed avocado sprinkled with goats curd and mint on nutritious multigrain bread, or give the little ones a healthy treat with classic boiled egg and vegemite soldiers. Ideal not just for kids parties but fun gatherings of all kinds, Crafternoon is popular for hens parties, corporate functions, baby showers, or a classy high tea - complete with cucumber sandwiches and jammy creamy scones.
Beautifully warm welcome from staff, delicious food and great coffee. The service was attentive and fun, and staff were just awesome with my daughter and I. The 'menu' of art and craft activities was varied, suited to a range of ages and very well priced. All round wonderful mix of art, craft and eating. Please come to Chelsea! Mel
Loved it! The staff were really attentive and helpful. We have never been to Crafternoon before so l needed a bit of an explanation, which the girls were more than happy to help with. Loved the Frozen Elsa latte for the kids, what a lovey touch! I had a latte and a blueberry and coconut muffin - yum!! Thanks for a great morning, we will be back!
The team at Crafternoons are fabulous! A truly kids oriented venue! I love the food, the the service, the options for craft and every single time, I walk out impressed at the delightful team.
Service was absolutely amazing! The staff were so friendly and attentive. Kids loved the variety of craft activities! Food was good. Would definitely visit again.
We meet for mothers group, the service was great, the food was yummy. Also lots of crafts to choose from. Areas that I feel can be improved is the front shop is very tight for prams. For a business which is aimed at young families I felt like I was in trouble for brining my pram and then 3 more prams as our mothers group have since all had a second baby and thought this was a great idea to entertain our toddlers. Another area is pricing. The meals were small for the price but very nice. The crafts I also feel could be cheaper with multiple children this could be an expensive morning out. Overall I would go back however with no pram and maybe one other person. Once inside it's very comfortable however local parking restrictions limit enjoyment as the maximum we could find was 2 hours.
We had a lovely lunch and kids enjoyed themselves but on arrival we weren't explained how the cafe worked. I heard others in nearly tables be explained the menu but we were never told. I only ordered the one activity. By the time I asked about the menu and how it worked, it was too late as we had been there a long time already. Often I had to get up and ask questions as no one would come to us. I had to get my own paper because that was often forgotten after asking a couple of times when the staff dropped off food or drinks. The staff were lovely, I have no issues there, but they just weren't as attentive as I would have liked. I didn't like having to get up and ask for things and we're not fussy people.
This was my second visit and the staff are SO beautiful. They are so lovely to the kids, my 3 boys loved it here & the 3 adults managed to get a decent conversation in as the kids were occupied- in their seats! Novel for me. The food is amazing. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The food was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Crafternoon!
Although the craft activities on offer were good, there were a few problems. We arrived to paper and tubs of pencils in the table - all of which were blunt. The children couldn't actually do any drawing despite having 30odd pencils in front of them. I asked for a pencil sharpener, but it was broken. The space is small and pokey and not really great for smaller children who like to move around a bit - if the aim Is to be really child focussed they need to spend some time thinking about layout and appropriate furniture. The coffee was good, and the food was fine. Although I would usually expect two peices of toast when you order a serving.
For our first visit it was fantastic. We were greeted with a smile and genuine excitement from staff members. Both the floor and ceiling captivated the children as well as the adults. A great selection of food and creative art to choose from. We will be back soon to try out some more they have to offer.
We had the BEST afternoon there. My little sister is special needs and the staff were beyond accommodating. They were so kind and enthusiastic and she called them her 'best friends'. She hasn't had so much fun in a very long time. Special thank you to Dirk! You made our afternoon one to remember forever :)
