Named after the famous nightlife and entertainment area of Osaka, Dotonbori is bringing the vibrant buzz of the strip to Melbourne’s Latrobe Street, serving up Japanese favourites in a casual setting, perfect for a low-key lunch or dinner and drinks with friends in the CBD. From hand-rolled sushi to small plates like the agedashi tofu, chicken karaage and tako wasabi (raw octopus with wasabi) and larger mains like the teriyaki salmon, chicken katsu and okonomiyaki (a savory pancake with mixed seafood, cabbage, bacon and bean sprouts), no matter if you are a meat or seafood lover or vegetarian, you’ll find plenty of choice on the menu at Dotonbori. To guarantee a table, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
We went for lunch. Unfortunately all the rolls sushi were not available. Only bento and don. So we ordered pork&chicken tonkutsu. Chicken was moist and crispy outside. Pork was so dry.
Very new restaurant, so didn't have enough menus and still smelt like paint. But that aside, the food selection was great and warm service. Really enjoyed it and will be back!
