Dishes were pretty small, this restaurant is a bit expensive for the amount of food you get.

Well... the City was pumping owing to the Comedy Festival so I was surprised that I managed to secure a booking. The food was brilliant but what made the meal was the numerous little accouterments between courses: delicious! Service was pompous however only in appearance. All were quick-witted and were very personable. Good fun in deed. It is my intention to return soon.

I found that the restaurant was very noisy, and I had trouble hearing and understanding the waiters description of the 8 courses that we had. Also why do restaurants have such small writing on the menus, difficult to read. Nothing in the 8 courses really wowed me, except for the Oyster shooter. The wine waiter was very good and knowledgeable and they have an excellent wine list. For what you get though, I think it is way over priced. I wont go back in a hurry

Very over rated- save your $$ My wife and I get to Melbourne for about a week two to three times a year - we set a goal of doing at least one very good restaurant on each trip - Having read a number of reviews on Trip Advisor we were keen to try Ezard. we had booked some months earlier and were to start our meal from 6.30 pm - upon arrival our greeting was that our table had a later booking and we had two hours to complete our meal. We chose the 8 course degustation - all dishes were tiny (than what expect for a degustation) however none were outstanding in taste, the final course before dessert was a duck dish, for an extra $25 you could swap the duck out for a Wagyu beef option.   We chose the beef option - this is what an extra $25 provided - two bite sized pieces of beef- really tiny. We Chose the matching wine option for $130 a head - there is no sommelier, just individual wait staff who provide their own spin on the wine - wines were bland and unimpressive. Staff were polite and attentive.  Overall impression - Mediocre - it was a production line mindset from the restaurant - save your money there are far better Melbourne restaurants for the dollars - the restaurant was full, so clearly they have a loyal local following - however I would not return.

Was really looking forward to this dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary with my wife. We'd never been to Ezard before and had a lot of people tell us how good it was. First impressions were good, if a little rowdy and noisy, but the table was very nice with my wife afforded a panoramic view of the room's action from the banquette. The maitre'd offered us a drink as soon as we sat down, which came quickly. Then our waiter (Stuart) appeared and mumbled through the menu, which couldn't be heard over the background din, and scurried away. Then we waited... and waited... and waited... after 25 mins I announced to another waiter clearing an adjacent table that we were ready to order and she retrieved our waiter again who took our orders. Then we waited, and waited, and waited some more. Over the next hour and a half we received three starters which were a mouthful each, admittedly very tasty though. My wife noticed the service from the waiter was clumsy too, with cutlery placed randomly on the table and he reached across our faces to fill glasses. Finally, after being there for 2 hours, our main courses arrived and were underwhelmingly small. My wife ordered the waygu beef and it arrived as 3 or 4 tiny 1 cm cubes. Where the starters were a mouthful, the mains were two or three mouthfuls, but again they were delicious. After the main we changed our desert order from the platter to the single items so that we could get out before our babysitter fossilised at home. The the bill arrived and for what we received in terms of service and food quantity, we were disappointed. We spent too much, were there for way too long and received too little.

Just the right amount of food for the 5 course, not too rich and not too filling. I could do with less dessert. I would definitely go again!
