Modern Australian cuisine, fantastic coffee and delicious tapas are what’s on offer at Gourmet Girl on Salisbury Avenue in the lovely village of Laburnum. This great dining location is already a huge hit in foodie circles, and is now on the way to becoming a household name throughout the entire Melbourne area. Serving breakfast from 8.30 am to 3pm, Gourmet Girl is popular among local early birds looking to enjoy a gourmet feast before starting the day. Try the Scandinavian, a hearty spread complete with poached eggs, sauteed spinach, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce and a toasted English muffin. For lunch, mains like the fresh wrap and Alex’s Lasagne are popular choices, and on Friday and Saturday nights, you can enjoy a wide range of delicious tapas after 6pm. Book ahead of time to snag your table at this Blackburn favourite.
Love this place for a quick meal or snack, or even just a coffee in my own quiet space. They have simple, yet fresh and tasty dishes, and an assortment of delicious cakes to choose from. I frequent Gourmet Girl and also like that there is the option to sit outside on a leafy corner, weather permitting.
Relaxing surroundings far from the madding crowd yet easily accessible by public transport (close to Laburnum train station) and with ample 2-hour parking. Good variety of choice in the all-day breakfast menu and the lunch menu. Dishes are well-presented, delicious and reasonably priced. Variety of healthy fruit juices, wine, beer and hot drinks. Excellent service. My favourite restaurant in the Blackburn area.
Main course very good but came to the table quite cold. Dessert would have been better with a dollop of cream, but was just served with bottled chocolate topping - yuk!
