If you’ve never experienced Balkan cuisine before, you’re in for a treat at Grill Danube in Melbourne’s Caulfield. We recommend starting with an order of the taramasalata dip, made from raw caviar blended with virgin olive oil and lemon juice, served alongside homemade bread. For the main act, choose from grilled specialties like veal medallions, lamb cutlets, eye fillet or leskovacki ustipak, a ground beef patty made with garlic, hot peppers, mozzarella cheese and ham. You can’t go wrong with the sarma (sour cabbage rolls) or one of the incredible schnitzel dishes – in Vienna, Karadjordje, Parisian and Belgrade varieties – alongside a portion of Balkan-style cabbage salad.
