Melbourne’s where it all began for Groove Train’s founder Rocky Veneziano, and not far east of the city you can find an outpost of this popular family of internationally-minded restaurants whose popularity has found them popping up all over Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. Here in Doncaster, as always, it’s all about celebrating the global cuisines that you can find in abundance in Australia, great value, and a family-friendly-vibe. The Westfield Doncaster shopping centre outlet down Doncaster Road is a popular place to grab a bite to eat in the warm-up or wind-down to a day of retail therapy.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We came for a quick meal and it was perfect for what we were after, even got myself a cocktail pre movie! Will definitely be back again next girls movie out :)
Service was very slow. Food quality wasn't what I expected. My Caesar salad was imbalanced (too much bacon not enough lettuce) and expensive for what you get and the pizza base was bland but the topping had too much cheese. I'm guessing the lunch chef is still learning??
Within 45 minutes of starting a 7:30pm dinner we began being rushed out, with the explanation that the kitchen was closing as it wasn't busy.
Groove Train’s home turf is Melbourne – it’s where the family of international restaurants first emerged. With the introduction of a Groove Train station to the Westfield Doncaster shopping centre, locals on this side of the city can get in on the action, too. Like its brothers and sisters, Groove Train Doncaster has everything you need to get your international feed: breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners are all on offer and cover the world of food from the Med to Asia, Europe to Australia, with plenty of liquid refreshment to help things along.
Those getting themselves down Doncaster Road early in the morning to beat the rush at Westfield Doncaster will be pleased to know that breakfast is served until 11:30 at this outpost of the Groove Train family. Afterwards, it’s all about eclectic lunch and dinner options, including the perennially popular Groove Train pizza and calzone selection, all made to order in-house using traditional wood-fired ovens. There’s a lot more than just Italian here, though. This is one Melbourne restaurant where you can get your high-quality and innovative Asian and American-style fix, and introduce the kids to the world of gourmet food with the special – and never condescending – kids’ menu!
