There are plenty of Vietnamese joints to be found in Melbourne CBD, and it can be difficult for a new joint to make their mark. No such issues though to be found at Hawker Boys on Hardware Lane, where they have almost immediately carved themselves a niche in the city’s eating scene. They offer bahn mi flavours, but deconstructed. There are the traditional bread buns, of course, but also served with rice or noodles. The toppings and fillings are the star of the show, though, and they come as spicy chicken, grilled prawns, fried tofu, soft-shell crab, pork meatballs, Korean fusion beef bulgogi...we could go on. There are noodle soups as well, and salads and sides, but we alone can’t do them justice: just book a table, take a trip to Lonsdale Street and Hawker Boys and experience it for yourself.
Pleasant space with very reasonably priced menu of Vietnamese classics. It was a sunny warm day and nice to have the doors opened out onto hardware lane.
