Asian cuisine is a delight all over Melbourne, from Chinese dumpling joints to Korean barbecue restaurants and Vietnamese noodle shops. They offer up bento boxes packed with maki, nigiri and teriyaki chicken or beef or vegetarian versions with inside-out rolls, veggie hosomaki, mini spring rolls and gyoza dumplings. Take a trip out from central Melbourne – that’ll be the train stations at Prahran, South Yarra and Hawksburn – and try some of the best in Japanese cuisine: just remember to book your table before you arrive, as they can get quite crowded.
