Kritamos Hellenic Cuisine is a restaurant built on passion. Australian-born Sifis Tsourdalakis moved back to Melbourne after a decade-and-a-half sojourn in his ancestral homeland, and he decided to open a restaurant dedicated to Greek cuisine, particularly the specialties of Crete. He opened Kritamos Hellenic Cuisine on Bridge Road in central Richmond with the intention of presenting the famed Mediterranean diet to the public of Melbourne – fresh ingredients, great wines and food cooked with love. Plus, beginning in March 2016, you can catch live Greek music every Friday!
Great food, amazing service, brilliant atmosphere! Every time we go there is consistently friendly and thorough service, and the food is always of the best quality and flavour. Honestly when we want to eat Greek food we won't go anywhere else now.

After 15 years enjoying the Mediterranean diet on the island of Crete, Sifis Tsourdalakis moved back to Melbourne with a mission. He was determined to found a restaurant that served the superb Greek food that he had enjoyed on his travels, and that replicated the family atmosphere of the best Greek tavernas. To this end he enlisted his mother – she still cooks some of the dishes – and a few of his countrymen and opened up Kritamos Hellenic Cuisine on Bridge Road in Melbourne. The restaurant is affordable too, and offers special mixed grill deals for two on Tuesday and Wednesday which include dishes like lamb cutlets, roast lemon lamb, pork sausage, chicken skewers, and a Greek salad.
The food at Kritamos takes in more than just Greek favourites. Their menu is tailored around the diet of Crete, widely considered among the healthiest in the world. Diners can order mezze dishes to share – dips, dolmades and other small plates – before moving on to the mains selection. Meat lovers will look immediately at the roasted lamb and various souvlaki choices, whereas vegetarians can enjoy moussaka, yemista (seasonal vegetables with rice and herbs) or even the famed Cretan salad. Seafood, a staple of the Cretan diet, is also available, and we would recommend the sharing platter, which takes in all the best that this island cuisine has to offer. We would also advise booking a table in advance: Richmond is one of the premier dining destinations in Melbourne, and Bridge Road is one of the main streets in the area, so Kritamos Hellenic Cuisine can understandably fill up quickly.
