Thinking about making a La Zona booking?
There are two La Zona cafes in Sydney, this one in Gymea and another in Oatley. The Gymea outlet is a firm fixture in the neighbourhood, convenient to Kingsway and the hub down Gymea Bay Road towards the station, bringing in a crowd of regulars on a daily basis. Breakfast starts at 7:30, and runs the gamut from simple Bircher muesli, acai bowls and traditional oat porridge through to breakfast quesadillas and vegetarian stacks. Fresh baked goods are available from the display window, including sourdough, gluten-free loaves and Turkish bread, best enjoyed with ricotta and honey.
From just before noon until 5:30pm, La Zona serves lunch from a menu that showcases the diversity this Kingsway kitchen is capable of. Angus beef burgers, vegetarian and Moroccan lamb wraps, leg ham and poached chicken open melts are just some of the options available. When dinnertime rolls around, this internationally-inclined cafe and restaurant in Gymea opens out to offer delicious tapas-style share plates and platters with a focus on fresh Sydney seafood, Mediterranean dip and breads and more. And that’s just for starters. Truffled arancini, portobello mushrooms stuffed with blue swimmer crab Mornay, Szechuan-style salt and pepper squid, and the soup of the day are highlights on the way to the main event, with superfood salads, pasta and risotto in between. At La Zona, you can find main courses as simple as fish and chips, and as sophisticated as Atlantic salmon, seafood hotpot, and well-marbled 350g Black Angus Scotch Fillet. Busy most days of the week due to its universal appeal, La Zona’s best when booked.
