Matsuzaka Teppanyaki @ Chevron

We were kept waiting for 30 minutes, we were seated to the side. There was no Teppanyaki experience. The chef hardly interacted at all but the manager thought that him saying hello was enough. No option was given to wait for the actual teppanyaki table. The waiter was abrupt about everyone having to order the teppanyaki, or otherwise have to spend at least $65 per head for a la carte and that was not stipulated clearly in the menu. To top it off when I tried to be courteous and complain privately the manager he would not even offer anything more than a round of drinks and 10 percent off the bill. Really rubbish experience. Will not be recommending. Very unhappy!

When I booked online, all of the “teppinyaki” spots were full so it didn’t come up as an option only indoor or outdoor. I wish I’d known prior to arriving as my son was super disappointed and it made for not a great night. Food was ok but for us defeated the purpose of going to a teppinyaki restaurant without the show

There was no introduction. We did not feel welcoming. As the chef was already serving two people and they were up to their fried rice so chef decided to cook extra rice and served us fried rice first where fried rice is typically the last dish to be served. Fried rice taste was bland. Overall all food dishes tasted bland, not much flavour. Half of the dishes were cooked by another chef over another hot plate and not in front of us which was really disappointing as the whole point of going to a teppanyaki is to experience the show of the chef cooking in front of you. For this reason we felt really rushed as though the staff wanted us to leave so they could be ready for their next booking. Whole experience was only about half an hour. Also, they also did not to write 'happy birthday’ on the hot plate with salt as I mentioned on the booking it is for our daughter’s birthday.

Had an absolute blast was the first time we had taken the kids. Max was our chef and he was very funny and extremely entertaining the service was 10/10 and the food was perfect well done to this business!!! On our next holiday at the Gold Coast will definitely be returning.
