Great place to have dinner with a large group. The food was good value and service was attentive. Added bonus to have a live act in the dining area contributing to the atmosphere. An enjoyable evening that will have us back there soon.

I love going to lunch at the Metropolitan. We always phone our order ahead to save some time. Everything on the Menu is delicious (particularly my favorite) Corned Beef on mash, The servings are generous. The wait staff are helpful. Overall a great lunch.

The venue is very nice with a good bar and a lovely old dining room but I found the menu a bit limited and had trouble choosing. Staff were really nice and the cost for the night was good too. A band started up in the bar as we were nearing the end of our meal. They were so loud we ended up leaving which was a pity as we would have liked to have stayed on a while longer.

Had been to the Metropolitan many years ago and decided to try it again for a catch up dinner with a friend. Not disappointed.- great food and wine list and attention from very friendly staff. Convenient, quiet location, Recommend highly.

Lovely old hotel but the restaurant food quality was not up to the high prices charged- part of meat Market complex so ideal for a meal before the show but I would not eat there again.

Really enjoyed our dinner at The Metropolitan Tap House - food was excellent, atmosphere lovely and the staff were efficient, polite, pleasant and good at their job. We chose Fried Calamari, Bruschetta and Pulled Pork with Chilli jam for entree - all well cooked, tasty and well presented. For mains I had Crispy Pork that came with delicious Asian flavours & vegetables - my partner had chicken, chorizo and beans and our son had the hearty Chicken Parma ... all delicious. The boys enjoyed a delightful, bold tasting Pinot Noir (Giesen The Brothers Pinot Noir) with their meal and I had an old fashioned Ginger beer. Great coffees to finish up with. We loved the fact that the hotel has retained its original and authentic decor - the dining room and front bar are very special because of this. We are always on the lookout for a great old-fashioned pub - and we really found that last night. Its a gem. Prices are higher than ordinary pub fare - but the standard and setting are higher too. Meal portions are also generous. The Metropolitan is highly recommended - we had a great night out.

They got the key bits right, great food, craft beer and wine but very average bread serving and coffee was so embarrassing they agreed we shouldn't pay for it (I say don't serve it!)

The food was delicious, but what stood out the most was how lovely and helpful our waiter was. I didn't catch his name but he had red hair. Very attentive and even gave samples of beer to try free of charge

Great food, but service was slow. I didn't mind that as I was on my work Christmas lunch as we ended up taking up our afternoon at the pub. Maybe you can have a extra chef at these busy times, especially for the work colleagues who love to work.

The barman was indignant of having to pour a middy size beer into a pint glass for my father, who has Parkinsons, because "it looked bad". Too bad that it's what my father required. Should have left then as it was followed up by the second worst meal I've eaten in my life. Don't go.

Food was great and everyone's meals looked great! Staff were very nice. We pre-ordered due to being a busy time and food came out 5 minutes after i had asked it too which was good!

Excellent food and service. Staff courteous and helpful in providing meal suggestions for those of us with more restrictive dietary requirements. The beer was served at an excellent temperature.

This is a beautiful old building right next door to the Meat Market performance space. Service for us was slow this night with new staff, delays in getting a drinks list and an hour wait for the meal. Having said that the staff did inform us of the delay to the meal, were helpful, friendly and we were offered a complimentary drink in relation to the delay. The food was good with the lamb and steak perfectly cooked - gnocchi was a little disappointing as it was a little chewy. As the above I hope we're anomalies for the night we went, I would give this place another go.

The Metropolitan has a lovely ambience - an old style pub and a large dining room with high ceilings, a lot of space and traditional fittings and fixtures. The menu was varied, from traditional pub fare to interesting mains. One of my friends really loved the corned beef, and the chicken parma was good and not too huge. Unfortunately the service was slow, for both drinks and food orders, but we were kept in the loop - a new waitress had just started - but there was only one other waitress, which was surprising for a busy Saturday night. We were later told that our orders were going to arrive later than usual, and arrived just in time for us to finish our meals before we needed to be at a performance at the Meat Market. I was thankful that I had booked our table two hours before our show started. The other interesting thing was that one of my friends ordered a popular cocktail only to receive a drink that had deviated quite a bit from the recipe! But that was sorted out with good humour. All in all, I would recommend The Metropolitan if you are not in too much of a hurry and stick to the menu....

Food was excellent, service was reasonable but the ambience very ordinary for what I expected. Cost was acceptable. Access to toilets was not real good, in fact dangerous for people who are aged.

Was an absolute shocker! Ordered a dish and they delivered another saying that it had run out but hope we enjoyed the alternative...who does that? Don't you come back and say...sorry...we don't have any of this, please choose another option. They also delivered the wrong wine, couldn't get a drink or a bill.....won't ever go here again and certainly wouldn't recommend

The service was good the food was great. The only problem is that the room is very loud, too many hard surfaces. (It might only have been the really really loud women on the next table). All in all though it is a great spot for dinner.

Beautiful diner room but a very noisy bar invaded the dining room making talking very difficult. The food on the menu was limited ordinary and slightly over cooked
