Situated among leafy surroundings on Blues Point Road in McMahons Point, Olivo On Blue is a place to relax and take time to enjoy the small pleasures in life. There is nothing small, however, about their staggering contemporary Italian menu, which showcases a deep passion and refined skill in the culinary ways of the bel paese. More like a deep gash than a mere cut above the average Italian eatery in Sydney, Olivo On Blue is well worth a visit whatever the occasion, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and more than capable of catering for functions and large groups.
Housed in a homely old Sydney building on Blues Point Road, Olivo On Blue delivers a hundred times over on its promise of offering heartwarming, homestyle Italian satisfaction otherwise sadly hard to come by around McMahons Point. Part of that is simply the restaurant’s style and atmosphere, enhanced by welcoming and knowledgeable staff well versed in the celebrated Italian style of eating, serving and socialising. Even more so, though, this immense satisfaction comes from the food, which has one foot firmly in Italian tradition and another stepping confidently in new, delicious directions.
The vibe around this nook of McMahons Point is relaxed, and Olivo On Blue are of no mind to disrupt this. The dining area is classy but casual, while a large alfresco section lets diners relax in the sun and watch the world go by along Blues Point Road. Italian restaurants all around Sydney rarely devote so much time to proper homemade preparation as Olivo On Blue, with fresh pastas and slowly fermented pizza doughs among the many ways you can taste the difference that time and care make. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and frankly it wouldn’t be a stupid idea to settle in for all three at Olivo On Blue.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. It was a first time experience for me. The service was excellent as was the food and ambience. There was no pressure to leave the table-this was appreciated. I will be back. Kerry
the staff are friendly and efficient, the food are fresh and well presented. I would highly recommend to my friends who love casual dining yet modern settings.
Excellent service, great food. We had a group booking for nine people for lunch. Service was prompt, efficient but not intrusive. All dishes were excellent. Highly recommended
When we arrived we were met at the door by Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and the menu choice is excellent, great food, would highly recommend coming here for a meal.
A table for 6 - we ordered and had entree before we ordered mains. Entree to share was very tasty and arrived promptly. Getting a waiter to open our 1999 vintage wine and champagne took a while longer, but they got there eventually. Mains were very good and everyone enjoyed their dinner. Overall - food very good quality and reasonable value. Service - a bit patchy, especially on the beverage side. We would go again.
We loved the meal with excellent pizzas that had a fantastic crust and toppings. There was great choice of entrees and the risotto and pasta were also really delicious. We had the Tiramisu for dessert which really was one of the best we have had. The service was excellent and friendly. We had a great night with grandparents and teenagers present - something to suit everyone.
Great service, beautiful location and good food and wine menus. Highly recommend. Definitely worth making a trip to Blue Point road to check it out.
We went there on late Sunday afternoon, the restaurant wasn't that busy. We received prompt and efficient services. The food was nice, we like the Seafood chowder soup and pizza.
Nice restaurant in a nice location. The Food was pretty good although not as good as my previous visit. The service was a bit slow, considering it wasn't busy.
Happy service by smiling staff, good food served hot with excellent coffee. Rest rooms clean with soap. Seating very well located with tables spaced for privacy and comfort.
