Ostro Italian

Meal was very ordinary. Luke warm temperature Potatoes looked like slop on a plate n was so salty I could not eat it. Vegetables advertised were not supplied.

Great ambience, good and service. This is our second visit and we’ll be back. Thank you!

Good service, portion sizes were too large for us. The food taste was okay but not outstanding. No one raved about it, just easy eating.

The premises was very quiet. The menu had plenty from which to choose I was convinced to book Ostro when I saw Zabaglione on the menu. They don't offer it any more, but it was still on the internet and the menu. The food was very salty. And the place had a very tired and sometimes grubby look My daughter enjoyed the gluten free base pizza.

Such a lovely venue and very friendly staff. We love this venue near the beach and the staff are always really lovely. Unfortunately, the food really let the place down this visit. We have been before and it good, but this time most of it was not great. The fried squid was soggy. The chicken Caesar salad was terrible, with dried-out chicken, no egg, no anchovies, and dirty oil-favoured croutons. The steak salad was filled with dried-out old meat and had a total imbalance of lettuce, onion, and tomato. The steak main course was very average for the price. I only write this so they can improve because it is a great place and maybe we just got an off day.

The food was actually inedible. They collected our full plates of food and did not even acknowledge that we hadn’t eaten it. Waitress was lovely and took two drinks off our bill but we still paid for $100 of food we didn’t eat. Terrible. Will not return. Will tell everyone we know.

Well, that was the worst Italian we have ever had! My husbands meal looked like a plate of swamp with over cooked pasta. I couldn’t even finish mine, the salt level was insane!

While the food was nice, the service was terrible, we ordered our entrees and one person didn't receive theirs until the others had finished, when we had asked the waitress where 4th entree was, it was brought out and it was cold, mains were then brought out straight away, the 4th entree had obviously just been sitting there, we ordered drinks with the meal and were not offered and firther drinks, coffee or dessert for the rest of the night! Won't be back!

Disappointing experience at Ostro.
We asked for focaccia and olives but were served charred bread instead (thankfully not charged for the price of focaccia). Requested no parsley in the spaghetti—it arrived full of it. The octopus dish, priced at $30, was meant to come with pumpkin purée, which was missing. When we asked, the purée arrived 10 minutes later in a separate bowl—by then the octopus was cold and eaten. We had to order more (non-complimentary) bread just to use it. The Negroni was weak and served with lemon instead of orange. Pasta dishes promised a generous amount of Parmesan—none was provided. We had to ask, and it only arrived after most of the food was already eaten. No apology offered. The prawn linguine came with just 3 prawn bodies and 4 floating tails. Although the waitresses were warm and friendly, the service overall was poor and lacked attention to detail—clearly let down by the kitchen. Would not return.

Seafood platter, pizza and focaccia were good. Unfortunately, veal scallopini was terrible, chicken parmigiana the chicken was burnt. The pasta dishes were just edible.

Over cooked pork dish Over seasoned Arancini Under seasoned steak Carbonara side should never have left the kitchen. Bruschetta Was tasty and an interesting take on the norm. Duo gelato was I’d say ice cream, not gelato maybe? Wait staff were jolly and pleasant, but lacking in English, which resulted in stuffing up the desert order, but was rectified swiftly. All about 30% over priced for what came out.

Very friendly & attentive service the moment you enter the restaurant with delious and ample servings for your meals.

As a first-time diner, I wasn't disappointed. Lovely evening. Liked the sight of a freight train rumbling by. Wait staff were very accomplished and friendly. Will visit again and recommend to others. PS: However, the sight of a rodent trotting by outside was a little disconcerting to some other diners.

Made a booking for Valentine's day this year and couldn't recommend Ostro's highly enough, We were given our choice of seating and the staff, food and restaurant were all amazing!
