More about the restaurant: San Gennaro by Mr. Bond
San Gennaro by Mr. Bond in South Yarra has an interesting beginning to say the least. It began with the question, what do you do when you can’t quite fit everyone into your extremely popular Italian restaurant? Why, open another space right next door, of course. Which is exactly what the team at South Yarra’s Thirty Eight Chairs did to create San Gennaro by Mr. Bond . It is a smaller, bistro-style version of the original Thirty Eight Chairs and is the perfect place for whiling the day away and lingering over glasses of prosecco and antipasti platters. This chic space on Bond Street brings a slice of the Amalfi Coast to Melbourne and offers a creative breakfast, brunch and long lunch menu, as well as a space for group celebrations. One of Melbourne’s best, reserve a table now!

Thinking about making a San Gennaro by Mr. Bond booking?
If you’ve a hankering to start your day the Melbourne way, a visit to San Gennaro by Mr. Bond by 38 Chairs South Yarra is a must. We love the Napoli baked eggs with Parma prosciutto and white truffle olive oil, and the aptly named ‘Melbourne’ of avocado puree with a poached egg and parmesan. For lunch you’ll find a whole host of paninis, soups, pastas and small pizzas served by the slice – that all go down a treat with a glass or two of carefully chosen Italian wine. San Gennaro by Mr. Bond also serves dinner on occasion and is the perfect space for larger groups wanting to take their time, savour the food and enjoy the alfresco dining area. It’s perfect, really.
San Gennaro by Mr. Bond was inspired by the tradition of meeting, sharing and eating with friends and family the way owner Gino Forlano’s family did in Salerno. The concept is centred around an alfresco atmosphere and the team have created a space featuring olive trees adorned with garden lights that’s perfect for the early morning, mid afternoons and evenings. This Bond Street Italian space is also Melbourne’s very first permanent martini garden and if that doesn’t get you enthused, we don’t know what will. So reserve now and head to San Gennaro by Mr. Bond South Yarra to find out what all the fuss is about and enjoy la dolce vita!
