This sleek Chinese eatery on Pier Street has a spacious dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows and – yip, you guessed it – views (almost) directly onto the sea, just across Queen Street towards Altona Pier. Seaview Restaurant doesn’t rely on its prime location in Melbourne’s coastal outer west, though, because it has a menu of delicious food to foot it with the best Chinese restaurants on Little Bourke Street. Start with sesame prawns, steamed scallop dumplings or seafood san choi bao and you’ll feel even closer to the sea, then move onto a hearty seafood main or other Chinese specialty like Peking duck, Singapore fried noodles or bean curd soup. The menu is long and varied, but everybody in the group is bound to find something to suit their taste buds, including delicious desserts for the sweet tooth – green tea, black sesame or red bean ice cream with banana or pineapple fritter, anyone?
