For a truly rustic, authentic Himalayan dining experience, with dishes straddling the Indian and Nepalese border, head to The Kathmandu Cottage, were the welcome is as warm as the food can be fiery. Located in West Melbourne along Victoria Road, right on the edge of North Melbourne, this restaurant is perfectly perched to offer locals a down-home culinary adventure – and it’s one of the first restaurants of its kind in Melbourne. A classic goat curry is the chef’s specialty, but there’s a cornucopia of other dishes to pick and choose from. With many years experience under its belt, The Kathmandu Cottage is also an expert caterer and host for big celebratory banquets, ranging from the intimate, two-person Annapurna or Vegetarian Banquets, the four-person Kathmandu Banquet, and the lavish Everest Banquet for a minimum of six people.
Dining at Kathmandu Cottage was a lovely experience. The friendly staff welcomed me to my table and promptly took my order. The entree and main arrived in good time and were as delicious as they were promising. I love food with vibrant, intense flavours and this is exactly what they delivered. Thanks for a great meal.
Really enjoyed the food and service at this little gem of a restaurant. I'd suggest to skip the entrees as they weren't anything special, but the mains certainly were a hit. Reasonable prices for what you get and the curries had a really nice depth of flavour.
