Eat balls! Meatballs, we should stress, and eat them at The Meating Ground in Fremantle. Yes, if you fancy an American-inspired mouthful, there’s no better place than this Perth restaurant on South Terrace. Meatballs are a curious thing because they can be good, they can be bad and they can be ugly. At The Meating Ground they are tender and moist and come in plenty of interesting forms. If balls are your thing, you need look no further. Sweet balls, savoury balls, balls with special sauce, so many balls that are truly desira-ball. We should warn you, though, these Fremantle balls are popular so reserve a table fast.
You know a meatball restaurant is good when it has three locations across Perth, and this, the Fremantle branch of The Meating Ground, is the latest addition to the family. On South Terrace, the name of the game here is great American balls, fantastic wine and good company. Premium meats are blended with the finest flavours to create balls that will wow. In fact, the team at The Meating Ground Fremantle are pretty sure their balls will surpass any other cut of meat in terms of quality, taste and value, which to us sounds like something of a challenge…
Ball lovers of Perth should certainly take The Meating Ground up on that challenge by getting to know the wonderfully varied menu. Start the ball rolling by sharing a plate of golden crumbed mac and cheese balls, some black angus beef and vintage cheddar balls with crumbed pickles, or some sticky bourbon and espresso pork balls witch hickory BBQ sauce. For the main event, this Fremantle ball bar offers larger portions and an excellent selection of sides and you can be assured that every variation of meatball here has been thought about and cared for. Heck, there are even vegetarian balls and sweet balls to finish with. There are more than a few good reasons why The Meating Ground is so well-loved across Perth – go and find out why.
The mains aren’t available on the menu until next week. But the bites were all delicious. Best dish was grilled peach and halloumi which I saw on their Facebook but wasn’t on the menu - ask for it if you go. The maple glazed lamb was also very good. Pork belly was nice and tender. Brisket aranchini was nice but didn’t have much meat so you couldn’t taste it that element. Chips, also good. Nice tasty food with two beers ended up being $66, a low fuss place to meet and have some snacks and drinks which aren’t to pricey. We will come back again to try the mains next time and the peach and halloumi if they’re still doing it.
Cant wait to go back again great for our whole family and the meals and drinks are absolutely amazing and with outstanding flavours. Definitely try the oreos
