An outlet for chef Fabio Duperti’s passion for Italian cooking, at Sydney’s Unico Ristorante traditional Italian classics are combined with experimental dishes. The decor at this charming North Point eatery combines tradition and modernity, with white tablecloths and sleek furniture creating a stylish and cosy setting to dine in. Begin with the sarde in saor (sardines lightly pan-fried and marinated with caramelised onion, pine nuts and sultanas) or the carpaccio di carne (aged beef eye-fillet served with parmigiano, buffalo ricotta, truffle oil and porcini cream), before moving on to a rustic pizza, pasta, meat or seafood dish.

The dessert menu is equally as impressive with choices like the classic tiramisu made from a secret recipe, to the mousse al mango, croccante di mandorla e arancia rossa (mango mousse semifreddo with crunchy almond and blood orange served on a mango puree). Located on Sydney’s Garfield Street, Unico Ristorante attracts diners from all over the Five Dock area and beyond. To secure a seat, make a reservation beforehand!

We really enjoyed it. The pastas were very nice and the Scamorza was superb and we had not had that before. We are definitely going back. The citrus liqueur to finish was different but excellent.

This is an excellent authentic Italian restaurant. Not expensive. Delicious food and great people. The location is a little hard to find from the road but well worth a visit.

My husband and I had a really lovely 3 course lunch from the A La Carte Menu and we were delighted with every selection. We were also given some complimentary croquettes. The staff were lovely and everything was very relaxed and ran smoothly, in spite of the restaurant being very busy with a large Christening Party and another large table of diners. It is so nice to have a sumptuous meal at a very reasonable price and we will be going back for more of the same. I think Unico is about to become our favourite restaurant.

Been a while since we have been to a great Italian restaurant. We Had high hopes for this place but unfortunately service was really slow and at times non existent. The food was ok but a lot of the dishes were Luke warm. Zuppetta de pesci had little broth and was not hot, there was hard bit from either a mussel or vongole. The truffle mash was tasty but again not hot. 2 in our party ordered ragu fettuccine one was Luke warm and not much meat the other was hot and plenty filling. Eggplant zucchini starter was nice but lacked flavour. Wine and desserts very nice Chianti, affogato and tiramisu. Not enough for us to go back though even with 10% vouchers given on payment. No prob paying premium for good food but this was not a great experience overall. Pity.

The restaurant is elegant and the staff were friendly and attentive without imposing. The food is of a high standard with care going into the preparation so that it is complex and flavorsome. The stuffed olives are a must and the portions adequate, leaving the diner satisfied. The cost is reasonable and well worth the experience. The limoncello is a nice touch at the end of the meal.

This is a really good restaurant. Food - authentically Italian - is excellent as is the personal and friendly service. The space, with its high ceilings and long windows is very pleasant and, at our Sunday lunch, remarkably quiet for a Sydney eatery, where often the noise levels are way too high. Highly recommended.

Attentive and accommodating service and brilliant food. Best carbonara in sydney and lots of other delicios treats. They have lovelky and affordable wine including the somewhat rare pecorino, which pairs nicely with the antipasti and other entres. Overall a geat experience and great value.

The restaurant has a strange location but once inside, the ambiance and service are excellent and the food is sublime. I don't think I have enjoyed a meal so much for a long time and will definitely be back.
