Awesome food, service was excellent we will definitely be back!
Let me start by saying that the food here was great. But Unfortunately we left with a very bad taste in at least my mouth. We went to ‘Up In Smoke’ for Father’s Day and we travelled from the Eastern Suburbs to try this place out and it is worth the drive. The Starters and Mains were great, albeit a little smaller than expected. Then came dessert. Let me preface this next paragraph with the fact that my 5 year old son experiences severe anaphylaxis to peanut, or any peanut product. When ordering dessert, I explained to the staff member the situation and was assured that we could have the dessert with vanilla ice-cream, rather than a snickers ice-cream option. The dessert then arrived and I confirmed that it was peanut free. I was assured it was. I looked at my dessert and the colour looked like it could definitely contain peanuts, so I risked looking like a ‘neurotic mother’ and asked the waitress to double check. She came back and dismissively said “you got what you ordered”. I then took a bite, as I have learned to do before giving any to my son and definitely tasted peanuts. I then opened the dessert to find many full peanut kernels inside. Needless to say the staff were very sorry, but this could of resulted in a disasterous Father’s Day for our family. So all in all, give this place a go. But be very aware of ANY ALLERGY ISSUES. 😟
Great food and service. Relaxed atmosphere and all in all, excellent value for money
As we said, Up In Smoke ticks all the right boxes when it comes to the kind of casual food and drinks you crave. There’s nothing better than kicking back with some craft beers and slow-cooked, smoked meats while catching up with your best mates. This casual Footscray diner is all about new American BBQ and combines traditional elements with a unique and modern twist. The laid-back environment makes Up In Smoke Footscray an excellent choice for eating out with the gang before you head out for a big night out. Plus, you’ll even find some gluten-free and vegetarian options on the menu for anyone that way inclined.
The menu at Up In Smoke in Melbourne is something that we get very, very excited about. Why you might ask? Well because we basically love each and every dish on this classic American BBQ-inspired menu. Kick things off with crumbed and fried cheese curds with Buffalo sauce and char-grilled corn coated with habanero mayo and Jack cheese. Then, we can’t go past the smoked hot wings with ranch dressing or the waffle fries brisket poutine with smoky gravy and cheese curds. For the main event, why not build your own tray of melt-in-your-mouth smoked meats or choose a set tray complete with sides like mac and cheese, apple slaw or BBQ rub fries? You can thank us later!
