Village Lane Cafe & Wine Bar

I visited in September before the new owners had taken over. The staff were great but the menu was not. Looking forward to visiting again under new management.

Venue, service and food were really good. The guitarist was fantastic although too loud for the small area of the venue. Recommend both the share seafood and share meat plates, which was more than enough food for 3 adults. Will definitely visit again.

The Food was really good, staff were uninterested and slow.

Unfortunately not good. Firstly it was a cold winters night and the doors were left wide open the whole night so it was very cold, draughty and uncomfortable. I ordered a margarita which I didn’t enjoy, it tasted strange compared to other margaritas I have had before, possibly a pre mix? I ordered chicken schnitzel which was fine, my husband ordered an eye fillet steak and asked to have it cooked ‘medium’. He began to eat the meat but found it was extremely rare. He then cut it through the centre to find it was totally raw apart from the very edges and not even warm in the centre. He asked the waitress to take it back to the kitchen to please cook to medium which she happily did. She returned a short while later with the steak however when my husband started to eat it again it had only been seared on the outside and was still raw inside. He could not eat it. It was a $32 piece of meat which could have been great if it were cooked properly. I gave him half of my chicken. We did complain to the young girl who apologised and said she would pass the complaint onto the chef. Overall a disappointing evening.

Great food, great atmosphere, fantastic drinks! Highly recommend for a Saturday night dinner!

The staff were slow to take orders, got the coffee orders all wrong and never bothered clearing empty plates from our table.

Tha restauran has a nice decor,chandelier reflecting in a big old mirror, high and low sittings ,lovely bar,dimmed lights gives lovely atmosphere. Staff was friendly, menu was interesting but food was average..fe. mushroom aronchini balls tasted more like fried risotto balls...but then im a fussy food critic. I was disappointed with the music..instead of rnb night music we had mix of everything playing on the background. After all its good place to try out. :)

Nice food, could of got a little bit more follow up with Service. Beautiful place.
