There’s hardly a more convenient spot to grab a coffee and a bite to eat in Surrey Hills than Watts Cooking Cafe, located as it is right by the train station along Union Road. Breakfast is a robust and reliable affair, offering everything from continental-style breakfasts to Belgian waffles, eggs a half-dozen ways, and plenty of quality Melbourne coffee to boot. Lunch pushes into European and Australian cuisine, with distinctly Italian pasta dishes making an appearance alongside some very welcome anomalies like Sichuan-style salt and pepper calamari. From the deli menu you can grab some of Watts Cooking’s signatures like the blackened chicken breast with a corn and black bean tortilla topped with tomato, guacamole and sour cream, or go for a Turkish sandwich or healthy salad. There’s also a kids’ menu!
Lovely atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We only had coffee so can't comment on food but was perfect for our needs on that day!
Lovely food. Unfortunately picked a day when there was a music festival in the street so hearing my friends talk was difficult! Service was good.
Great atmosphere, clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and polite. Food was fabulous - thumbs up to the big breakfast!
