Restaurants in Summer Hill

Summer Hill, Sydney has restaurants, cafes and a detailed history

Just 7km west of Sydney’s central business district, you’ll find Summer Hill. Before the arrival of the First Fleet at Port Jackson in 1788, what we now know as Summer Hill was part of a larger area where people from the Cadigal and Wangal nations lived. The first mention of Summer Hill by that name was in 1794 when Henry Kable made a land grant, and the suburb then began to develop even further when a train station on the Main Suburban railway line opened here in 1897. Fast forward over a hundred years and now Sydney’s Summer hill is bursting with restaurants, cafes, neighbourhood eateries and more for you to explore.
