Serving up rustic Italian fare in a chic and sophisticated space in Surry Hills, Baccomatto Osteria is Italian dining at its finest. This is the kind of place where the chefs are singing in the kitchen as they make fresh pasta on marble benchtops and where you’re greeted like an old friend when you walk through the doors. This cosy hatted osteria and wine bar, located on Riley Street, is one of Sydney’s best when it comes to authentic, wholesome and outrageously delicious food. This is a dining experience like no other meaning reservations are essential.
So what can you expect from Baccomatto Osteria? Well, this award-winning hatted restaurant is home to a menu brimming with Italian classics and specialty signature dishes that will quite literally have you weak at the knees. Perfectly matching its chic decor, there is an air of cafe-meets-wine bar in this Surry Hills haven, yet the food is truly world-class – even nonna would be impressed. While the menu changes at Baccomatto Osteria according to season, you can expect starters along the lines of warm cuttlefish salad with zucchini and citrus, salted cod and potato croquettes and delectable tomato and basil meatballs. Then, for the main event, Sydney’s Baccomatto Osteria offers buckwheat cannelloni with sheep ricotta and Tuscan cabbage; chargrilled pork cutlets topped with almond puree, fennel and grapefruit and Roman-style lamb shoulder and vignarola that will melt in your mouth. Finally, round things off with a traditional Italian tiramisu, chocolate crusted pistachio panna cotta or affogato while you enjoy a bottle of wine from the award-winning list. With plenty more besides, including daily specials, Baccomatto Osteria on Riley Street in Surry Hills is one of Sydney’s premier restaurants and one that is well worth the trip.
Great food and attentive, friendly service. Lamb shoulder was melting in the mouth and the veal & porcini ragu maccheroni was equally delicious. The salted cod & potato croquette was yummy too. This is our second time here and we'll definitely return again!
Baccomatto Osteria is one of the best restaurants in Sydney. Fabulous welcoming staff, yummy food, brilliantly cool decor and an atmosphere that will have you coming back for more. Why go anywhere else?
Excellent service, the staff were attentive and friendly and food was great. It’s unusual to have such friendly and efficient wait staff at a busy restaurant, well done.
This is our favourite local - staff always welcome us like old friends and the food are amazing - we have never had a average meal
I could tell you about the amazing food, the beautiful room and the amazing plates and wines but what truly defines this place is the feeling of home. The beauty of this restaurant are the people in it and how warm and welcome you feel. There is really no place more comfortable to be we will definitely be regulars here!
We went for Christmas Eve dinner expecting Baccomatto Osteria to be better than it is. Dissapointing and quite expensive for what was served. Anti pasta and wine were lovely mains nothing to write home about but the Tiramusu excellant. Prob won’t return
Excellent Italian restaurant, the best we've been to on our trip around Australia and New Zealand. Great service, short, but well thought-through menu. It's not cheap, but we felt our meal was worth every dollar.
everything was brilliant from the staff to the food. Good accessibility in the restaurant but 4 steps to the toilets. the staff were outstanding. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
What a wonderful surprise. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The service was great and the atmosphere vibrant. The food was magical. Il cibo e buonissima!
Consistently the best Italian in Sydney. Great for post work drinks at the bar a romantic dinner or catch up with friends. An icon for locals
