The food was good overall. However chips were dry and old but calamari was amazing. Half/half

When we arrived, we found out that it was no longer Bensons'. They had changed hands and name about 6 weeks ago. However they made you welcomed and the new owner was most hospitable, showing us the new wood fired ovens outside.

We were told to choose a table in the front or the back, even though we had booked. Not taken to a table. Weird. Owner very nice but a bit too friendly. Starters small and very average.

A convenient roomy restaurant in a busy shopping strip with plenty of parking. Very friendly and obliging stall with a good menu. We had a seafood paella and burritos with ice cream for desert excellent quality. The wine list is very good also. Will definitely go back again.

A great local with good food, affordable, stunning wines, plenty of room, good service and a fantastic menu with tapas to paella to slow cooked lamb. Worth a visit to this great local restaurant.

It was quite quiet on the Saturday before before mothers’ day. The food was great especially the salt and pepper squid and the mussels in white wine sauce entrees. We were so tempted to ask for a second serve. The lam shoulder main was fantastic too, so tender melting in the mouth with the right amount of sweetness in the sauce. The paella was a disappointment though, I don’t think the use of basmati rice did justice to this dish and that lovely salt and pepper squid which was such a mouth watering entree was totally flopped as a topping to the paella because the steam from the rice had soften the fried squid by the term it got to the table. We had churros for dessert which was superb in the dark chocolate dip. The service provided by the lovely waitress and waiter was however disappointing because we had to get up to go to the them several times throughout the the evening to ask for service. The restaurent was quiet with only 3 to 4 tables around 7.30pm so I thought the attentiveness from the waitrers were lacking. Overall I still think I will return especially for the salt and pepper squid.

The food was excellent. We ordered the chef’s choice of Feed me, which consists of 7 tapas dishes to share for 2 people. Fantastic value for money.

Fantastic local restaurant. We were a group of 6 and went on a Thursday night for a birthday dinner. The mains were awesome and generous in size. The dishes tried were the duck risotto (unfortunately they only had 1 portion available as 2 at our table wanted to order that) but the second choice - the slow cooked lamb was an extremely satisfying choice. Also tried was the Asado skewer of mixed meats. The duck breast was cooked perfectly - pink in the centre and the risotto was deliciously creamy, The lamb was served with broccolini and crunchy little patatas bravas. The lamb serving was very generous and beautifully tender. We shared some delightful sugary churros for dessert and the waiter then brought the birthday girl a chocolate self saucing pudding with a candle in and sang Happy Birthday which was totally unexpected. We will be returning to try the Tapas menu.

Interesting modern menu with Spanish influence. Good selection of tapas. Generous main courses that don't need sides to supplement them. Attentive, friendly staff. For us it is a neighbourhood restaurant. For two people we shared the calamari and scallop tapas and then had mains of seafood marinara and slow cooked lamb shoulder. Both very nicely presented and generous. Popular coffee and lunch venue for Gardenvale people. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recommend you try Benson's if you are thinking of dining in Gardenvale

Fabulous brekkie, staff very friendly, my friend didn't want the salmon in her brekkie and the waiter was quite happy to change for something she did like which was mushrooms. Very obliging. Coffee was fabulous. Great experience and would recommend.

Unfortunately Benson's was an extremely poor experience, the decor is dowdy and dated, the menu was absolutely filthy together with the water carafe with green sediment! The food was cold and certainly not fresh, breakfast food should arrive fresh and piping hot! Coffee cold......staff not on the ball.

Bensons has fantastic food, fair prices in a pleasant environment. The service is great and personable. A stunning neighborhood gem. Recommend the tapas especially. Breakfasts and outside seating also available. Rarely need a reservation.

We've been to Bensons on several previous occasions and it never fails to live up to expectations. We brought a Groupon and this just added extra value. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and best of all excellent food.

Stumbled on this restaurant from “Deals Extra” , despite it being a “deal/voucher”, the quality and quantity of food and service is the “real deal”. Really good coffee and lots of breakfast options - delicious food pleasant staff , very nice atmosphere, very clean toilet, from a family of 5 with little kids visiting from Sydney we highly recommend. All the best Benson’s on Martin!!! Hope to be back when we visit Melbourne again🤗

The restaurant has a nice ambience. The menu has a great variety of tapas. I like the prawns dish it was full of flavours. The lamb cutlets were good.
