From the rich house-made tomato base (‘Tony’s secret recipe’ so don’t even bother asking) to Neapolitan anchovies, Boulevard Pizzeria has a very wholesome, authentic Italian feel to it. That comes as no surprise when you learn that the Cestrilli family behind this popular City Beach eatery at the Empire Shopping Centre on Gayton Road inherited the craft in Rome and have been at it in Perth for over 40 years. That’s by no means to say that Boulevard Pizzeria is stuck in traditions, though, and they have adapted their menu aplenty to suit local tastes and try a few new things here and there, from a Texas BBQ version to delicious gluten-free bases. Still, some time-tested classics remain firm favourites, as do a host of homely pasta dishes that round out a diverse Italian menu that is sure to hold something for everyone.
