Cardens Seafood & Steakhouse

Sad that this institution has now closed. Hope someone excellent takes on this amazing space.

Decor was old & tired, waitress has no clue, online menu states bottle of wine with the platter menu in the restaurant says 2 glasses of wine told waitress & she didn’t care, seafood was from the freezer not fresh overall never again not worth the money or your time

The staff were lovely, and very attentive. The lady who served us was wonderful. The food was nice, but we have been customers of Cardens for many years and the change in management is very noticeable in the quality/amount. For example - The oysters kilpatrick now have the cheaper processed cubed bacon instead of proper bacon, and the BBQ shellfish used to be a larger serving of quite a few bugs and prawns. This time it was 2 prawns and three bugs. There was also an absence of finger bowls and a bowl to place the shells into.

Great food and location, although a little on the quiet side - probably due to the time of day we went. Recommend to others. Staff very friendly too.

Prawns in the prawn cocktail were still frozen. Took a long time to take our order and waiter 'made up' the soup of the day as he couldn't remember …. chicken and pea soup!

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Cardens Seafood Restaurant. The meals were amazing and the seafood was extremely high quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

We waited almost an hour for the food to come out, one of us had to send the food back coz it was under cooked (rely bloody) and cold, chips were soggy and the meat poor quality. We went to Cardens with some friends we wanted to impress but we were very disappointed, even the presentation of food wasn't appealing. Sure will be the last time we will go there unless there is a drastic change in service and cooking. We should've read the reviews before we went. :(

The entrees (scallops) and main course (lobster) were terrific. Free glass of wine was appreciated. Just a bit disappointed at the small choices for dessert.

Service was slow... considering when we ordered we were the only 2 ppl in the restaurant... food could have been better as its a "seafood" restaurant.

Service was very poor, we waited over an hour for our food and it wasn’t even that great and the staff didn’t seem to care as they mixed up our order and when we asked the staff member at the bar why did we have to wait so long? He said it’s very busy there was too many dockets in the kitchen. That wasn’t our problem, there were people who came in after us and got their drinks and food before us and left way before us while we were still waiting for our mains. Overall very poor service and food also experience the staff didn’t seem very apologetic, do not recommend this place and definitely not going back. I have heard good reviews prior to going but I’m very disappointed.

This was a favourite spot for special occasions but since new management has taken over what a disapointment! From customer service to food quality, no one has any idea what is going on.

The food was good but the service not so great. I understand it was Valentine's day when we went so it was busier than usual but that doesn't mean waiting for over an hour for our mains was ok.

The service was slow, the wait staff was inexperienced and the food was expensive and very ordinary. People who arrived after us and ordered after us, received their drinks, entree and main meals before we did. The restaurant was about a third full, so it was not because they were busy, the poor service was due to the staff being disorganised and distracted by non workplace discussions. Other patrons voiced their dissatisfaction regarding their meals when leaving, and were met with apathy and a reply of "Thank you, come again". We will certainly not be returning to Cardens restaurant.

The eye fillet was absolutely beautiful. The staff are friendly and the seating is comfortable. We will certainly be returning for another meal hopefully sooner rather than later.

The food was below average for the price we paid, the Madras curry was nothing but coconut cream no spicy or flavour, Mariner’s special there was nothing special about it, a salmon steak pan fried with no seasoning, the calamari rings I’m sure is from a frozen packet it was as tuff as leather. We couldn’t finish our meal. Never again

Thoroughly enjoyed our Crayfish & prawns platter for 2! The whole experience was exceptional and memotable! The service was delightful. Will have to visit again soon.
