Love a Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese. I don't think there's a better casual place to go in the Northcote-Thornbury-Preston area. Already made it my regular!!

Great place and delicious food! Would definitely return! We visited with a group of 5 on a Wednesday around 7/7.30 and it was really busy - so always book! There were only a few staff members on - so be patient and expect everything to arrive pretty staggered! (This worked out well as we were all sharing anyway!)

Really enjoyable. Friendly service, delicious food. They handled our booking over the phone in a very friendly and professional manner. Highly recommended.

You know when the owner is Japanese that you are going to get quality food and Dendeke didn't disappoint. Quite reasonably priced and a good selection of sake, shochu and whiskey. Sitting at the counter felt like being in Japan.

Delicious food and cocktails, but expensive for the amount you get

The food is delicious, but it has changed somewhat in the past six months. Portions are smaller and it is therefore more expensive to eat enough to be full. The menu was a lot better six months ago too. Still lovely, but no longer our favourite.
