Element V on Marrickville Road Newtown is a fairly new Vietnamese restaurant to the area. Whilst the cuisine doesn't pack the usual Vietnamese punch that you'd expect, the location, atmosphere and team are great

Glad with that with the name change they have kept the same menu. Braised fish and Mixed Seafood Tofu was delicious and my partner was very impressed with the food. Strangely not as busy as it used to be under the former owners. Perhaps too pricey compared to the surrounding restaurants but the food is definitely more tastier.

I booked a table for my partner’s birthday night, but no acknowledgement from the staff there - nothing special. We were hoping to get the same food quality and food innovation style as Quan an Bua Trong’s, but nope! At Element V, the food we had was just an average pedestrian style. Beer and wine were fine though.

Average,, it was lack of ambience of a Vietnamese restaurants. When we were there it was only 3 tables occupied and we felt rushed as staff tried to clean the table whilst we were still eating. And not offered dessert menu when we finished our main.

Can't say I was impressed by some of the food that was served, entree arrived without the sauce which eventually made it to our table. The 2 entrees ordered did not arrive together, in fact we had to ask for our second. The pork belly main was dry and salty and again our second main arrived quite some time after our first. First time here with new owners, don't think we will go back.

Great food and really reasonable prices. Loved the green papaya salad and the soft shell crab. Friendly and efficient service. I would highly recommend it. We'll certainly be back.

Great menu, lovely food. We will be returning soon. Formerly Bau Trong, but just as good. The ladies serving were lovely & welcoming. Marrickville needs this more up market dining experience.

Fantastic place to go with friends, the food was amazing and so was the service. We will definitely be going there again. Crispy pork belly, duck salad and the orange glazed prawns are an absolute winner. A must try.

Wait staff were very attentive in a good way, and all of the food was delicious, especially the crispy pork belly and the pancake. I would definitely go back!

Very average service at higher prices - you will get the same for less in most of the Illawara Rd restaurants. Even the staff say they should have kept the same trading name that most locals knew it by before being taken over by new management.

Wonderful food and service! Absolutely a must visit for the food, as it is very original. The setting is very classy and super funky. This is not our first visit or last, as we keep returning.

Tasty food and very good service. I was pleased to discover that despite Bau Truong being sold, Element V as the new incarnation has retained plenty of the most popular dishes and all the staff. I'll be back :-).

Went here with the family last week for dinner so got to try a bit of everything, everything was packed with flavour and the dishes complemented each other, capped off with a well rounded dessert menu. Some highlights was the orange prawn, the fried barramundi, sour soup and the sorbet pyramid, would definitely go back again to try everything!!!

The food was delicious, packed with flavour and beautifully presented. Betel leaf roll was really nice and exotic. Orange prawn wrapped in crispy shredded pastry and glazed in home-made sauce was so yum as was the smoky grilled pork chop. Paired with the beef salad tossed in a zesty dipping sauce was just a perfect match. For desserts, frozen pyramid was the winner and ginger ice cream was delightfully tasty. Good ambience, friendly services, we will be back.

The restaurant itself is very welcoming, staff very attentive, the food is really bad. I was a regular of the before restaurant, then Element V took over. Will not return. I actually commented to my friend, the food reminded me of pre cooked meals you buy from the freezer section of the supermarket. I will say it again, the food is shocking.

I came here with my boyfriend last night, the atmosphere and ambience was warm and friendly. Perfect for a casual Friday night dinner. The food was quick to arrive and we were well looked after by the very attentive staff. Will definitely return!

Im a customer of the previous restaurant and decided to take my mother with me to try out the new restaurant's food, and it did not disappoint. My personal favourites from last nights dishes were the sweet and citrusy blend of vietnamese cotton candy and passionfruit in the frozen pyramid dessert and the generously portioned deepfried barramundi.

good service. food is a bit hit and miss unfortunately. 4 dishes out of 6 were good compared to the old Bau Troung. it is still a good experience.

Excellent food and friendly staff. Continuing all the great features of the restaurant formerly known as Bau Truong. Don't be misled that the restaurant has closed down, it may have another name but the food is just as good and the ambience and beautiful tableware have been kept. A surprise bonus last night (and for all this weekend) was 20% off for Father's Day. We had a great night, and will keep coming back.
