Tradition, knowledge and experience are the three pillars supporting one of the Gold Coast’s best Indian restaurants, Foodie Indiya. It’s the kind of place where once you take your seats at the restaurant’s Tibbing Street premises, just off Price Street, you can ask the waitstaff anything about the menu and they’ll rattle on as if they were discussing the development of their own children. The fact that tandoori chicken was born in the Punjab region of what is now northern India and Pakistan before they both became independent. The fact that butter chicken, a favourite among many Nerang locals who call Foodie Indiya their default South Asian restaurant, was invented only in the late 70s by chef Kundan Lal Gural when he worked at Moti Mahal Delux.
