Yummy yummy German food! Roast pork was perfectly crispy! Good portion sizes too! Just a teensy bit too salty

Amazing Austrian cuisine - it is everything you want: Authentic, fresh and a little bit rich. I believe the owner was also there that day and he was a real joy to talk to. As a vegetarian/vegan I also take note they have expanded their Vegan options since I last visited which is very appreciated in the competitive Melbourne culinary scene. They also have an excellent selection of Austrian beer.

Great food and service, pleasantly surprised by the sausage and pork belly.

I am German and so wanted to love this restaurant, because I love the Austrian cuisine. Unfortunately my husband and I found the food very underwhelming. We each had a Gulaschsuppe for starters and then the Wiener Schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad. Whilst the Gulaschsuppe was tasty, it came in a miniscule cup which was a joke for the price. The veal schnitzels were chewy, dry and pretty much tasteless. The salads were okay, but the potato salad looked a bit weird, because it was brownish in colour. I am happy to pay a little more for really good quality food, but this was very expensive for very average food. The girl who did the entire service on her own was nice and attentive.

It was amazing! Best German/Austrian food I've had in Australia so far. Head chef was amazing and nice to talk to. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking decent German cuisine (plus they have Almdudler!)

Gordon Bleu was on the small side, salad was wilted, sauerkraut overcooked and tasteless. Kaiserschmarrn was also disappointing, served with a tiny spoon of cranberries (and icecream plus applesauce - which was the tastiest part). Service could be friendlier too. All in all not worth going back. Sadly.

We were looked after very well by Constantine. It was nice and quiet for our conversations.

Arguably the best Southern German food in Melbourne! Great portions and great selections. Excellent atmosphere and fantastic service.

A lovely restaurant and great staff, we thoroughly enjoyed the schnitzel, pork belly and spaetzle! Upstairs is lovely with plenty of room, and the beers on tap are perfect after a hot day in the city. We highly recommend Gasthaus and will be back!

Have been here before and really enjoyed it. Food quality is always top marks. This time, we had a 6pm booking and they were already sold out of the pork knuckle and pork belly, so we were a bit disappointed.
