Dining inside the century-old Haberfield Post Office is enough of an experience in itself, but combined with the food that Il Goloso offer then, well, it becomes something pretty memorable. Dating to 1914, this gorgeous building on Dalhousie Street now houses one of the most authentic restaurants around Sydney’s historical Italian districts. Haberfield Post Il Goloso uses quality Italian products, experienced Italian chefs (including dedicated pizzaioli) and the Italian approach to treating the entire meal – not just the food – as a special experience. The result is a mix of great atmosphere, superb wines and even better food that is hard to beat in Haberfield. The veal specialties are a strong feature at II Goloso and the homemade pastas are proper nonna-style, but given the aforementioned master pizzaioli and their authentic wood-fired oven, it’s hard to beat the wide range of pizze rosse, pizze bianche and calzones.
