Authentic Nepalese cuisine is the order of the day at Balgowlah’s Hamro Aangan. Meaning ‘our courtyard’ in Nepali, Hamro Aangan serves up stunning cuisine made from the heart at their lovely location on Sydney Road, only moments from Manly Golf Club and Jilling Cove. Make sure to start off with one of the restaurant’s fantastic appetisers such as the classic momo (Nepalese-style dumplings) or the aloo chop, then decide from vegetarian options like paneer palugo, kwati (a curry made with nine different beans!), or jhaneko daal, traditional mains like the makhani khukura and piro jhinge, or take a thali and experience several of the restaurant’s best dishes at once. Sydney’s Hamro Aangan is known to get busy – book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Great food, and super friendly staff. This is a local place not to be missed out on. Try the goat curry, it's a must have when visiting. Highly recommend!!
Amazing food, will definitely be going back. I suggest trying the goat and the Nepalese dumplings. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, great place all round
Great food and service. They were happy to set up an outside table for us when requested, and no problems with one of us arriving late
The food was delicious, service was great and we all had a lovely time. The goat curry was superb along with a lentil dish and potato and peas.
This small cozy place is a credit to the young couple who run it. The food is so good and the service very friendly. The Thali is amazing and the goat curry is a specialty. Licenced with Nepalese beers and a good wine list but BYO wine is possible. The courtyard is a great environment for a group and is sheltered. A favourite restaurant.
Kind and friendly service, a relaxing atmosphere, and incredible food, including lots of vegetarian options. Perfect way to spend an evening. We did not see the courtyard but I can imagine it's as lovely a space to have a meal as the inside. A new favourite!
Great food and friendly service, and the courtyard was really lovely too. I will definitely come back again and will recommend Hamro Aangan to friends.
We had a great night with a group of friends. We enjoyed the set menu, it is great for sharing. We tasted some really nice wines and the owners are very welcoming and attentive. Some great tasting food!
It was nice...I wouldn't say restaurant type food but rather home style cooked food. Very simple basic food. A little similar to Indian food without richness. If I had to choose between this and Indian with the money spent, I'd go Indian. But do go to try something different, just for the experience.
My first time having Nepalese food. I found this restaurant to be okay. I went with my friend and only ate vegetarian food as she's vegatarian. She had been to Nepal so was familiar with the food. The dumplings were a little thick lacking flavour The standout dish was the paneer with spinach was delicious. Would I come back most probably not but was interesting to try it.
