The Vietnamese food on offer at this very stylish Hawthorn restaurant is, quite simply, exactly like you’ll find in the Hanoi Old Quarter – Hanoi being the bustling capital of Vietnam, of course. Hungry folk flock from all over Melbourne – it’s easy as Hanoi Old Quarter is right next to Glenferrie train station – to enjoy classics of the Vietnamese kitchen. Think zingy salads, traditional pho and some very curious rice dishes. On Glenferrie Road, the feel and vibe of Hanoi Old Quarter is rustic and cosy with exposed brick and vintage decor in abundance. I have recently had a lunch and a dinner at the restaurant. The menus are the same but the meals at dinner are not as fresh as lunch, indicating that dinner is prepared well ahead of time. The rice paper rolls were not soft or fresh;y made and the prawn fritters were not delicate and crisp as the promised in the menu.
Great service, very accommodating and friendly staff. Food was good, too. We wanted to try a few things to share and they happily helped us. Excellent prices too!
Delicious and quality food with reasonable price. A good one for vegetarian either, you will have lots of options to go with. Staff was also nice and they served it well.
Restaurant did not receive our online booking through Quandoo but were happy to accommodate our table of 7. Food was good and authentic. Advise to book directly with restaurant in future
The meal I ordered didn’t turn out like how they described it but it tasted okay. Service is quick. Gets busy at lunch time so get in early.
