We booked lunch last Sunday, for a family birthday. The Hunter's Hill Hotel bistro looked nice and inviting. Nine of us had lunch, not one bad word about the food, it was so good I have book again for my daughters birthday in June for thirty people. Ken
This place is so consistent when it comes to such great customer service, friendly and helpful staff! Not to mention the great food that caters for all!
We usually head to the Pier or Balmain for a meal but was very impressed with Hunter Hill Hotel great food and good service very happy nice to get a good portion size too where no need to orders extras ..... loved it here.
he food and he atmosphere is always great. They accommodated for a birthday party and allowed us to bring a cake which is always great
We were a group of 11 so understandably our order is going to take a bit longer. I placed the order for the group and then the waitress reread it to me. Everything was fine. When the food came out some of the sides were a bit muddled but the group were flexible until the waitress insisted that is what we had ordered. I showed her the list we had gone through together at the time of ordering and she had the meals fixed. The (overcooked) Eye Fillet was the smallest 200g I'd ever seen. The sauce dish was actually bigger than the fillet. Beer Battered Chips and Pepper sauce were a hit, as was the mushroom sauce. Chicken Parmi was the most substantial meal at the table and well enjoyed. Dessert order was given to a different waitress who was obviously new. When she asked our original waitress for help she was told quite rudely "the customer needs to tell you its on a tab before they order" which I had. She then walked off and they young waitress had to find someone else to assist her. Desserts came out minus one. I waited a good 5 minutes and went and asked after the dessert (2 scoops vanilla ice cream) and was told it was on the way. 10 minutes later I'm asked what we're waiting on by the same waitress I just spoke to. When I asked her to take the ice cream off the bill she was shocked "you want a refund?" - its not a refund if it never arrived. The new look of the HHH is great, the bar staff were great, but the bistro doesn't even compare to the old owners who were always welcoming and accommodating.
Everything is great at the HHH, however the kitchen are extremely inflexible......for example they won't swap wedges for fries if that is what the particular dish comes with on the menu. Clearly the chef is either unable to organise his kitchen or he has his head so far up his culinary aaaas that he doesn't feel anyone should change the menu he has written. FFS, it's pub grub.......other than that, everything is really good. Parking underground is now free ONLY for HHH patrons, so it's easy to get a spot and overall it's expensive - so that keeps out the riff raff.
Initial arrival had to wait 15 minutes at main bar for service. When bar staff finally arrived was abrupt. Someone sitting at our reserved table that was rectified by staff. Hard to identify staff from patrons . Food came out reasonably quick was good quality and satisfying size for price. Waitress/bar person sour faced abrupt to talk to when asked for additional plates seemed a hard task. Returned with plates and abruptly dropped on table. Seemed to be having a bad day. Large crowd & undestaffed but not patrons issue. Food saving grace from soured customer experience. Location itself excellent. Upon leaving approached by staff apologising for wait at bar. No apologies from sour waitress.
There was ample places to sit, inside or out, so quiet conversation was possible. The menu provided a good variety of choice; the swordfish I had was superb. All the staff were very professional and to top it off my undercover parking was validated when having a meal. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you HHH.
Generally the food was good although my friend's braised beef cheeks were sent back as they were as tough as an old boot. Some 20 minutes later another appeared which was much improved, but by the time she received it we had finished our meals. Also, we had a table near the automated door which kept opening even when no one was there. We asked if it could be closed but no response. So a chilly evening for the 8 of us.
I rarely give full marks, but we were well looked after and the meals were very generous and enjoyable. I had booked a quiet table and we had a lovely vase of fresh flowers on the table - unusual for a pub! My husband is disabled and we were shown to a lift, instead of stairs, without me bringing his mobility to their attention.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good. Overall a good pub atmosphere with a little class. We had booked a table for 7pm, we arrived a little early but were assured our table would be ready on time - it was. Had a drink with our group at bar tables b4 dinner- fab night. Thank you!
My request for particular tables was happily accommodated, and the food was great as usual. The only glitch came when an incorrect order was served twice, the waitress insisted that it was our mistake ( it wasn't), instead of simply correcting the order which was frustrating ( not to mention quite rude). Fortunately, this is not the norm!
Booked table for 7 but they tried to put us on stools not seats? Then was told you have to request seats when making the booking this is a bit ordinary. I said there wasn't an option to pick what seats when booking! As we had an elderly relative 80 years old cannot sit on stools to high for her. The staff placed us on make shift bar table nearby on a walkway but ruined the night and Birthday Party Anyway the food was good but a bit expensive compared to other venues nearby.
Can't fault the food or service, great! Steak was perfect, salads abundant and great chips! However, way, way too noisy for dinner. We requested a 'quiet' area for dinner but was subjected to a 'screeching' singer and our table of 7 could not speak beyond the person sitting beside us. A shame, as we have frequented the 3H's for many many years and were hoping the renovations would make it more family orientated. Not to be. If we do return we will be calling in advance to ensure there will be no 'live' music
We went to HHH as a big group fro pre Christmas gathering. The service was good and great atmosphere in the outdoor area with live music. The kids had fun in the play area and entertainment of magician. Would definitely recommend for family with kids.
I really enjoyed the HHH dining experience. The food was very fresh and tasty. There was a wide variety of choices on the menu too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I really liked the ambience too; nothing pretentious, just people out with their friends and family and enjoying themselves.
It was a great night with family and friends, would have been great to have been able to have one of the rooms that were vacant but due to not ordering a food package for my 30+ guests, we had two tables out on the deck. the staff were very helpful.
Great venue and Friendly team. A family favourite for catch ups. We have always enjoyed the food but we were a little disappointed with the food on this occasion. Could not recommend the Portuguese chicken salad. Chicken was marinated lovely but the extra sauce throughout the dish mixed with feta and avocado tasted like taco packet sauce. Sounds harsh but couldn't eat it.
Excellent friendly service. Food delicious and well cooked. Unfortunately the music was turned up and we were there on a big table of 11 so it made it difficult to hear. When we arrived it was background music which was nice
Beautiful atmosphere, great helpful staff and when it's a lovely day like Sunday was, it's an amazing experience. I'm not sure how it would go if it rains. Love the food and once again I need to mention that the staff are very helpful and well mannered.
Sorry to say that on a beautiful winter's day and enjoying the wonderful food, we could hardly hear ourselves think ... the music was certainly not what could be called relaxing. Don't get me wrong as the band and choice of songs were very good but not over lunch time when it should be quiet and relaxed. Why not start the band after 3pm? We had to leave and have dessert and coffee elsewhere.
The food was excellent, 8 people at our table and everyone loved their food. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere and vibe of the hotel is just fantastic. We will be back soon.
Had a lovely time there. service was good, food came out quick and my waygu burger was delicious. Kids had a blast in the playground therefore adults were able to eat and drink woohoo !
Amazing food. Drinks weren't too expensive. We sat near the back of the bistro to avoid the courtyard as it was very loud. I would recommend booking a table as we had booked for 6:30pm and it was already full!
I have been going to the HHH for years. The food is always great; it is looking so good after all the renovations, and is great place to go to enjoy with friends.
Good staff great night. Only problem the league was on the big screen out the back but I understand they are a league venue so wasn't too phased... Tahs lost anyway. :-(
Good food. Good place to go as a family with the play equipment. Great for parking in the parking lot and they validate your parking cost if you spend over $10
There were about 20 of us who dined at HHH last night and we all thought the food was amazing and the atmosphere was great! Looking forward to going back again!
Food was good and was served promptly. What wasn't that great is that if you are first timer you wont know where the menu is and having made a reservation no one was there to seat you.
Nice setting for a pre xmas catch up, good selection of food and reasonably priced. Didnt use it this time but noticed there was a small kids playground so will definitely come back with the little ones.
Good value food, nice outdoor area, easy to book online. We had a small work group and sat outside and we were a bit loud... just having a laugh so nice not to be confined indoors.
A great hotel for a school reunion especially if your not too sure how many will turn up there is plenty of space, the food is delicious. It has a rest friendly atmosphere. I'd recommend it.
We had a group of 8 for breakfast Christmas Eve. The staff, service, food & price were fantastic. Beautiful atmosphere, didn't fell like a pub. Will definitely be back.
Celebrated a birthday lunch at the HHH on a Friday and was impressed with the menu, which had a great range of options, everyone said their meals were delicious.
We have patronised the HHH for many years and basically we have no complaints about the staff and ambiance except that the music [that no one seem to listen to ]was too loud and the large TV screen was distracting. The Shiraz from South Australia 2 $ 35.00 a bottle was a disappointment Thanks Tullio Bogatai
Birthday celebrations which started at lunch and finished 10 pm . Best birthdays ever, great food and so a lovely upstairs deck . Thankyou hunters hill hotel
Great service, staff were very friendly, food was delicious and the size of portion was plentifu. Would definitely go back again and would be glad to recommend
Great Experience! We always look forward to catching up with friends at the HHH! We all know it is going to be a lovely night for everyone!!
The food was delicious and of high quality and the staff were very attentive. We enjoyed the variety on the menu and both kids and adults were very happy with our meals.
Great spot near the kids play area, thank you. Good menu choices, burger was fab. Shame about the rain all weekend, the outdoor area would have been good on a nice day
Have been to HHH many times, normally in a group of 6-8, food never disappoints and service excellent, perfect for us for a mid-week get together.
Everything was great. Best duck risotto ever . Service was impeccable and everyone in my party were happy with food. Reno was great, all was perfect
The food and service were excellent. They happily accommodated our requests with the staff always smiling. It has a great atmosphere and parking was very easy.
The food was great! Lots of Gluten Free options. Good service, very helpful and accommodating staff to book the venue, follow up and our request for a particular table. Thank You
tasty kids meals and good light options for mum. poor lighting in the play area. was a bit dark so kids couldn't see well at 5.30pm while waiting for dinner.
Great atmosphere and kid friendly! Food was quick and yummy. Missed the live music though, would like to start it for us early diners before we take the kiddies home!
Hi the hotel was lovely and dining area very nice. We sat in a booth and enjoyed the evening. We ordered the antipasto which was delightful and garlic and cheese bread + the prawn dish with sate sauce. We liked the first dishes but were disappointed with the prawn dish.
Great food & nice setting. Unfortunately coffee which was ordered did not come despite asking 3 times. Good location for lunch or dinner with family & friends. Will visit again.
Lovely place, had a great time, food was good and staff and service was fantastic, will definitely come back again soon, we all enjoyed ourselves.
great place to meet up with friends for drinks! friendly staff , great food. love the atmosphere especially the alfresco court yard. i'll be back!
