Melbourne diners know what they like when they go out for a feed, and they can tell the difference between authentic fare and an imitation from a mile away. We’re talking Chinese food here, and Melburnians appreciate that the real deal is hard to come by – when they find it, they stick by it – we can assure you that at I Love Dumplings, they’ve found it. The food served up at this Racecourse Road joint in Kensington, close to Flemington Racecourse, is all that one could want from a dumpling shop and more: so book a table now and trot on down.

Great food. One of the best Asian meals we have had of recent. We will be back. Prompt service.
Always good food here! Xiao Long Bao are the best.
While the restaurant was noisey when full , difficult to talk and hear, as the diners finished the noise levels improved. Food was excellent. A disappointment was there were not any glasses for the ladies to fully enjoy their beer. The positive was that all beers were lovely and cold.
Right in the centre of Kensington, just a few furlongs from the Flemington Racecourse, and a short gallop from Newmarket and Flemington Bridge train stations, there is a Chinese restaurant that can offer a nosebag fit for a champion. I Love Dumplings may not be the biggest stallion in the field, but what they lack in size they make up for in flavour: a lot like their titular specialities, actually. The dumplings are dished up in fields of 6 or 15, and you can fill a sweepstake with the breadth of fillings and cooking styles on offer
The runners and riders on the menu at this Melbourne Cup favourite are a diverse bunch. Fried and steamed, filled with meat, seafood or simply vegetables, I love Dumplings are lengths ahead of the rest of the Chinese restaurant field, and if you jump down to Racecourse Road in Kensington, you’re sure for a great feed. We’d bet the house on it. Stake your claim for a table now.
