More about the restaurant: Indimex

There’s no restaurant quite like it in Brisbane. Indimex sounds like some kind of futuristic plastic, but if you listen close you can hear the approach of a funky fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisines, separated by thousands of miles but brothers in spice. The two do battle here in a riot of flavour and colour at Indimex’s Logan Road restaurant, making peace and in fact finding themselves rather compatible in dishes like the Indimex seafood enchiladas and chimichangas that match the Mexican classic with Indian masala and biryani rice. This Greenslopes restaurant is a surefire destination for loud and proud gatherings of friends keen to tip one back and toast one of the strangest, most fun feeds you’re likely to find in the city. With Darjeeling and Assam teas, coffee from Dancing Bean, and oddball cocktails like the Coors (beer) Hunky Dory, Indimex rewards repeat custom – quite literally – The Amigos Club gets you discounts here and at sister restaurant Indiyum.

Thinking about making a Indimex booking?

As we said, Indimex is in a league of its own and Brisbane foodies simply can’t get enough. This Greenslopes space on Logan Road, not far from the Princess Alexandra Hospital and University of Queensland, is home to some of the most exciting dishes you’ll find just about anywhere. It’s all about taste sensations here – that, and fun, of course. Indimex, as the name suggests, is where Indian and Mexican cuisines come together in perfect – albeit surprising – harmony to create delicious fusion dishes that will have you coming back time, and time again.

So what about the menu then? We recommend kicking things off with a couple of starters to share such as the famous Indimex seafood soup brimming with mussels, prawns, fish, scallops and calamari in a spicy broth or the Bombay oysters topped with Indian spices and crispy bacon. Talk about fusion, right? Then, tuck into a serving of Moreton Bay bugs in a creamy Creole sauce; sizzling steak fajitas topped with salsa, sour cream and black lentil dal makhani or else feast on tandoori roast chicken served with fries and biryani rice. If all this sounds right up your alley, Indimex in Brisbane’s Greenslopes is where you need to be heading but, be warned – reservations are essential.
