The bento boxes are top notch. Unlimited rice and miso soup, and friendly staff. I go here for lunch on Friday with my coworkers once a month or so and they never have an issue finding space.
Nice staff and great food. Table was ready when we arrived. We received a very warm welcome by the staff and great suggestions was given to us. High recommended.
Japanese Restaurant with actual Japanese staff! Great friendly service and amazing food as always. I took my friend here because this has been one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne for a long time due to the authenticity and price. He was also very happy with the food and service. Small mix up with the order but easily and very quickly sorted. We couldn't eat it all, took it home... can't wait to finish it off for lunch tomorrow. See you guys next time!
We went as a table of 4 on a Friday night and received great service and the food was excellent. Kingfish sashimi was definitely a big highlight.
Izakaya Hachibeh is a great place to spend time with friends and family, have drinks, enjoy dinner, in a busy Melbourne city on Bourke street! Great service amazing food authentic Japanese style izakaya!
This was our second visit, this time celebrating our wedding anniversary, and while the food was still delicious, the service let it down at bit this time. We were seated upstairs, in a squishy spot around the corner, and had been seated for over 20 minutes with no attention, and eventually had to catch someone's eye to ask for menus. Then we had to ask for water and glasses for our BYO wine. Our meals were ordered as entrees and mains, but were delivered in a quite random order. We received 2 entrees (sharing), and then our mains, and then had to ask where our other 2 entrees were, and they still took another 10 minutes or so. Food is delicious, but sloppy service took the shine off a special anniversary dinner.
Delicious food at Izakaya Hachibeh, together with very friendly service. Prices are very reasonable too. Wine prices are also excellent. Our Japanese visitor was very impressed, and said the food was very authentic. Will definitely be back!
Authentic Japanese izakaya and restaurant, cater for lunch and groups. However, the service was somehow a bit slow as we came in as a big group with last minute booking and looked like they were short of staff at that time. Busy at lunch time, so booking is recommended. The restaurant also has sushi bar on the ground floor.
All 4 dishes my partner and I order - raw octopus with wasabi, grilled Saba, sashimi platter and tori karrage - were excellent. Top quality as I've eaten in Japanese restaurants all over Asia. Ingredients were fresh and pricing was good. Excellent experience. Will be back for sure.
Traditional, bonfide Japanese tucker at very good price. You cannot beat the quality and value of the $12 lunch obento! Recommend booking on Thursdays and Fridays, as it can get busy! Especially at this time of year! (Dec)
