More about the restaurant: Little Tommy Tucker
There are cafes in Melbourne, then there is Little Tommy Tucker, a brunch spot with serious character. Arguably what Bentleigh’s Centre Road has needed for some time, Little Tommy Tucker serves gourmet food in a setting that is slick and laid back, welcoming guests from the crack of dawn right through until late afternoon. The all day breakfast menu is quickly becoming a local legend, while the lunch menu offers freshness and a lot of diversity. The selection of coffee is unique, as is the aroma of ground beans and fine blends that hits you as soon as you enter this wonderful little cafe. Thinking about making a Little Tommy Tucker booking?
If there is one city south of the equator that knows its coffee better than anywhere else, it’s Melbourne, and for a cafe to have any chance of standing out from the crowd here, even just a little bit, it has to be damn good. Little Tommy Tucker, we are happy to report, is damn good. Not only is it one of the most stylish cafes in town, but its menus puts Bentleigh very firmly on Melbourne’s map of top coffee and brunch spots. The exterior is minimal black and unassuming, with an inside that’s crisp and clean, and whatever time of day you go, you’ll be hit by all of those wonderfully comforting cafe sounds and smells: cups against saucers, coffee beans grinding and brunchers laughing. We mean it when we say that Centre Road is lucky to have Little Tommy Tucker.
It’s fitting, then, that menus are more than up to scratch when weighed against other spots vying for inclusion in the ‘top Melbourne cafe’ category. Little Tommy Tucker sources organic, free-range, local food, simply because it tastes better. Among many other treats, on the all day breakfast menu is oat and chia porridge with poached pear and toasted coconut, seasonal mushroom bruschetta, and lamb and rosemary sausages with homemade baked beans, basil-whipped goat’s cheese and poached egg. For lunch, why not try dill and beetroot cured trout with capsicum mousse and pickled cucumber, or a super quinoa salad? As we said before, Little Tommy Tucker is damn good cafe – perhaps Bentleigh’s best. Reserve a table now.
