Those with a taste for adventure will love Made in Africa, a charming restaurant offering a taste of African cuisine, specialising in dishes from Ethiopia. Brisbane may feel like a million miles away from Africa, but Moorooka’s Made in Africa brings the spirit of the country straight to its Beaudesert Road location with its warm hospitality, traditional decor and authentic cuisine. Start off by trying some sambusa (a pastry shell filled with meat or vegetables) before moving on to a soul soothing stew like the alicha wot (beef sauteed in onion and turmeric) or another traditional dish like the yedoro fefer (dry pieces of injera and dry chicken with onion, green chilli, berbere and herbed butter). Vegetarians will find an abundance of choices too like the shiro, a split pea stew.
Very good range of meats and vegetarian dishes with differing degrees of spiciest. The service was friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. Highly recommended. Platter is good value for groups.
Food was great, very traditional, authentic flavours! The freshly roasted coffee was fantastic! Once the musician got started there was more of an atmosphere, the music was Ethiopian style.
Tastes and interesting food. Great to try something different, however it was a little over priced for what it was. Not much atmosphere. Friendly service.
Food was very good. We had a platter for four which came with 4 meat and 4 vegetarian dishes. We toped that with freshly brewed coffee presented in Ethiopian style which made it special as coffee was discovered in Kaffa, Ethiopia. As for service, we weren't impressed. Hope they will improve.
A little over price. The new section of the restaurant lacked ambience. The toilets were attrousious brocken, dirty with wads of toilet paper thrown on the ceiling. This made me worry about the hiegene practices of the kitchen. Loved the taste of the food.
Not so good, not so bad....a bit pricey for the quality of food. Nothing exotic as one would expect. Food tasted just okay. Service was okay.
