There’s a few Momoco Sushi joints scattered about Melbourne, here in Hawthorn on Power Street, right at the junction with Lynch Street and round the corner from Hawthorn station, plus others in Preston, Heidelberg, and South Yarra. Each of these fantastic Japanese restaurants and sushi bars are dedicated to making use of only top quality organic ingredients, balancing Japanese imports and locally-sourced Australian ingredients. This all means an a la carte menu and chef’s specials that are often refreshed that both keep customers coming back time and again. Start with pan-fried chicken or pork gyoza and vegetarian agedashi tofu, make a beeline for sushi rolls and sashimi, or tuck into bento boxes consisting of a number of authentic options. Recommended noodle dishes include the porterhouse steak and vegetables in a sukiyaki soup and donburi choices such as the yaki han fried rice with smoky eel. There’s plenty more to choose from here at Momoco Sushi Hawthorn.
Friendly staff, tasty food with plenty of gluten free options. Bottles of wine are affordable and good quality wines. Also my daughter received an unexpected free birthday champagne/sparkling drink which she had never tried before and loved!. We all enjoyed our birthday dinner out at Momoco Hawthorn. Thank you.
Only complaint is the staff. Appeared disinterested, lacking warmth, & didn't comprehend queries well. I called a couple of times to confirm the booking & other aspects relating to my booking. When I arrived, I was advised it was otherwise! Not a great start to a celebratory evening.
went there for dinner. waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. cheers to her. food was overall good except for the unreasonable long wait for the bento box. after we have eaten the rest of our orders, we were left waiting like another 30mins before my bento came and it came with a burnt salmon teriyaki but the nice waitress offered to replace that salmon after i brought it to her attention. overall still a good meal.
