As one of Australia’s oldest Mexican franchises, there’s no better place to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine than at Montezuma’s, with a number of restaurants scattered all over the country. Lucky for the spice seekers of South East Brisbane, you’ll find a branch located on Dollery Road in Capalaba, just a stone’s throw from Capalaba Central Shopping Centre. Tuck into tacos, chow down on some chilli con carne and so much more at this Mexican favorite – just remember to book in advance in order to guarantee a table!
Finding authentic Mexican cuisine outside of Latin America can be a tricky task, but at Montezuma’s you can experience a real taste of Guadalajara or Puebla without setting foot out of Brisbane. Found on Dollery Road, Montezuma’s Capalaba branch is the perfect place for a casual meal, with its vibrant atmosphere and stylish aztec-inspired decor, and its close proximity to the Capalaba Central Shopping Centre makes it ideal for a post-shopping feast or an evening out with friends.
We recommend beginning your meal with some nachos loaded with with garlic prawns, tomatillo sauce, sour cream and served on a bed of Spanish rice before moving on to the traditional mole poblano, enchiladas stuffed with Mexican chorizo or the tamale pie, a mixture of pure ground beef, sultanas, olives, sweet corn, Mexican spices and herbs, topped with cheese, served with Spanish rice and salad. For a real taste of Mexico in Brisbane’s Capalaba suburb, book a table at Montezuma’s now!
Love that this is such a family friendly restaurant. We had a 2 year old with us, and there were several other families with young children. Thanks for great food and great staff.
There was such a great variety of meals to suit everyone. The jug of sangria was amazing. Service was good. I would go back again.
Food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. We loved our meals and will definitely be back. Prices of food was also very reasonable.
I love coming here for dinner. The staff are always pleasant and work as a team. We always leave feeling full and happy. So we make sure we tip. Always tips people haha
I wanted to like this place way more than I did. We ordered the taquito platter with 4 taquitos on a bed of Spanish rice. The so called "bed of Spanish rice" was so thin and burned around the edges it was hardly a bed but more of a garnish. Rice is cheap so I expected more on the plate for 18 dollars. We ordered the chips and a large order of guacamole afterwards, and the small bowl of it for 5 dollars was a little high in price, but pay 3 dollars for a handful of tortilla chips felt really high. If the food was really nice I would have considered the prices to be more reasonable, but it didn't have much flavour, which made me a little sad. The taquitos were crispy but the beef didn't have much in the way of spices and felt slightly dry, and it felt like they needed something other than the little bit of salsa and cheese on them. I really wanted to like the place, but I was a little disappointed. I want to come back and try another dish and see if this experience was just a fluke, and maybe I'm just being too critical, or too used to American prices for the same meal. The service was pleasant though, and I hope you can improve on pricing and seasoning of food.
Great food and atmosphere but obviously understaffed...long wait times, forgotten drink orders and plates not cleared. The staff were lovely but just couldn't handle the workload. The adult half size nachos is ridiculously small when compared with a kids serve which is much cheaper and has more on the plate. Considering it mostly corn chipa..noone would be happy spending $19 on a snack size plate of chips with a side of sour cream and extra $3 for guacamole that wouldn't fit the palm of your hand. If you'd like a comparison...look at what Guzman y Gomez offer for almost half that price. Great place but when clearly understaffed and scraping on servings it makes we wonder if the restaurant is struggling to remain competitive.
Excellent food as always. Be prepared that the service can be a bit slow as the place gets busy but don't have enough staff. The staff always do their best though and don't let this spoil your experience. They are fantastic and the food is worth waiting for.
Wonderful food and awesome service. Would have nice to have not been placed at a table directly next to a family of children having a birthday celebration (i'm assuming because we were with our son) when the restaurant was half empty, but we still had a great time.
Definitely needed more staff on - the poor waiters looked run off their feet. After we were seated two more tables were seated near us. They then got their orders taken and received their food before us, which we weren’t thrilled about as we were in a hurry. The food was great though! Overall, our experience was good - just put more staff on so mistakes like this don’t happen!
Great venue for kids party. We had our house 11 yo birthday party. 3 adults and 7 kids between 11-13yo. Enjoyed the food while adults can have nice Sangria and the foreign beers. Great place for Coeliac as most food is Gluten Free.
