Napoli del Cuore – Naples in the heart – is as good a mantra as any to have in the world of pizza, with the city being the progenitor of the flatbread favourite, but it is also difficult to live up to. No worries, however, at Napoli del Cuore on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, where they provide authentic Neapolitan pies produced by fourth generation pizza bakers, made using a self-devised dough recipe and cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven. Join Fabio, his wife Laura and their team at Napoli del Cuore for a pizza in Sydney that is more than memorable. Book a table in before you arrive, however, as they will get busy on occasion and advance reservation is always a good idea. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is turn up and let the Campisi family do what they do to ensure that you have a great time and a great meal.
The secret to good pizza? Well, it’s not really that much of a secret, if you’ve been to Naples. And if you haven’t been to Naples, maybe you’ve been to Napoli del Cuore in Darlinghurst, where they present the best of the ancient Italian city to the public of Sydney, using the traditional methods of the old country. Let us talk you through how they go about making some of the best pizza in Sydney. Behind the scenes, you need a great dough, and they have a house special, homemade, self-devised recipe that they make fresh every day. In the middle, you need great ingredients for the sauces and the toppings, and at the final cooking stage, you need an oven that adds the char, and nothing does that better than a wood-fired oven: they’ve got one on Oxford Street, and they put it to good use.
The pizzas themselves are superb at Napoli del Cuore, but Fabio Savarese and Laura Campini, the husband and wife team behind their Sydney pizza restaurant on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, know that the food is only half the fun. While Fabio slaves in the kitchen, Laura takes care of everything in the front of house, from the bespoke pizza garden with outdoor seating arrangement that can take you right back to the Amalfi Coast to the classic Italian restaurant decor and the authentic wine list packed with favourites from the bel paese and Australia alike. Gather your friends and family, set a course for Napoli del Cuore and make a move to Darlinghurst – not far from Kings Cross – for one of the top pizzas in Sydney.
Been eating pizza here for the last three years and absolutely love it! The atmosphere is awesome, service is great and the food is so authentic.
Amazing pizza, true Napoli style, great service and BYO. Shared the 1 metre pizza between 4 people plus dessert and a salad, and left extremely satisfied. Our new local.
Real Italian Pizza! The best in the city! The Tuesday/Wednesday's all you can eat pizza is amazing: with just A$25 you can eat all the pizzas that you want plus a drink! Very cheaper solution and very delicious pizza!
Best Italian restaurant in Sydney Very good pizza and antipasto. Staff is friendly. + + + + + + + + + + + +
Food was OK but experience spoiled by terrible service. Waiter got everything wrong throughout the meal- 2 out of 4 menu items were wrong even though he came back to check. A request for a bowl brought tongs. He had trouble understanding that we wanted to share a mineral water. He continually dragged the same tables and chairs around throughout our meal. Not unfriendly but incompetent and not welcoming. We'll go back to the one in Redfern instead where the food and staff are always fantastic.
Awesome! Great pizza and pasta. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Seats are very comfortable though, would be nice if they were so you could enjoy your food and wine!
The service and the food were both excellent. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in Sydney looking for authentic Italian food at a reasonable price
Local pizzeria did everything you'd want from one. Tasty and authentic pizzas, quick service, cheap Aperol Spritzes. My reason for underscoring is the pizza bases were a bit soggy/undercooked and the decor could use some help.
The Chef's Salad was outstanding. The pizza was good, but could have been more flavourful. My group enjoyed chatting with the Parisian waiter. Ambience was decent.
This is repeatedly the best authentic Italian Pizza in Australia! We like the food, the people, the atmosphere. We will be back! Thank you guys!
