Osteria Italiana

The food was fantastic. We had a mixture of the vegan and non-vegan dishes and everything was delicious. The restaurant space is comfortable and classy. Great staff too, we will be back.

We had been to Maccaroni Osteria Italiana once before, and the welcome and food were fantastic - so went last night for my birthday. In order of occurrence: - On a fairly short winelist, the wine we chose was not available. - Three of us ordered the barramundi; after a few minutes, the waitress came back to inform us there was only one barramundi - at only 7.30 in the evening. - My guests having re-ordered, their meals came, but not mine. After an absence of my order - or indeed any contact or interest by the wait staff - it turned out that the order had not got through, and I ended up with my meal (the world's fastest risotto - that's not intended as a compliment) when my guests were just finishing theirs. Great food - but absolutely chaotic and untrained front of house.

A nice looking restaurant with the most comfortable booth seating for our group of 6. Atmosphere was very pleasant. We had the degustation menu, with 5 regular menus & one vegan menu. The entrees, pastas & desserts were delicious. The fish & meat dishes were Ok. Overall a wonderful dining experience.

Great food; with extensive vegan menu. Had the homemade eggplant dish and it was very generous. A bit loud inside with service not the best

Service a little slow at the start. Waiter didn’t seem to know what I was asking for when I requested the FODMAP menu, the main reason we wanted to try this restaurant. All the meal qualifying questions were asked later by another member of staff. Wine selection seems over priced and the Italian wines don’t have any style comparisons to make choices easier. However food was very tasty, well presented and couldn’t be faulted.

Best Vegan Italian in Melbourne, you can’t go here without trying the calamari. The service is always amazing and the wine list has so many vegan options.

Wonderful vegan Italian food obviously cooked with love and good tastebuds. The entree faux calamari fritti was amazing followed by vegan Italian meatballs. Great service from friendly and efficient Italian speaking waiters and warm inviting atmosphere. Would love to come back and try the banquet. Gluten free options are great as well for friends I know

At the risk of increasing their clientele and therefore not getting a table next time I go there... this place is wonderful, their food is beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful, easy to get to and great atmosphere. Highly recommend. The vegan menu is lovely.

Absolutely AMAZING vegan mani. Highly recommend. New favourite place!!! Calamari was insanely accurate, my partner who isn’t vegan said he would be happy to eat their vegan version over the real thing anyway!

Vegan Mushroom Pasta and Calamari was the best, even my Omni friends loved it. A must try vegan menu, will be back next time for sure

Incredible food, entrees came out super quick! I haven’t been able to have a sit down vegan Italian meal in a very long time. Very happy to find this place and will return on my next special occasion.

Nice and pretty atmosphere, wonderful vegan menu (they cater so well for vegans). The desserts are definitely a highlight! Traditional cocktail list, which were great.

Omg it’s been a while since I’ve been able to have good Italian foods that’s vegan friendly and isn’t bland and there’s like 2 options in the menu! Great atmosphere and tons of options!

I will never go back. Waited more than an hour for food even though when we arrived the restaurant was empty. Went to pay saw that I had been charged a Vegan option which I hadn't ordered. Alerted the owner who refused to apologise or give me a discount or anything. Food was so overpriced. We saw many other tables waiting long wait times too. A very unpleasant experience with a very cocky owner.

This is by far my favourite Italian restaurant, food made with love like my Nonna use to make. I love that there is a vast variety of delicious vegan and gluten free options. I have been 4 times now and each time, the food has been out-of-this-world, FULL of flavour. The atmosphere is very calm, romantic and the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was delicious, with plenty of vegan options for mains AND dessert! The wait staff are friendly and efficient and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was OK, seafood nicely cooked, but needed better seasoning. Restaurant was cold though and did not really have nice ambience.

Terribly bland, watery and dull looking mock meat mains. Nobody cared that we didn't eat our mains, or even asked how it was. Wish we just had pasta. Let down for Valentine's day.

Food was amazing, finding vegan friendly Italian is not easy so I was so excited to come here. Only downside was that it was very quite with only two other tables eating, so the atmosphere wasn't amazing, but I will definitely be going back!

Excellent good & service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting to have a great night out. It was also very easy to book with the Quandoo app. I highly recommend it.

The Service was great, very friendly and supportive without being intrusive. Excellent menu selections too. The decor was subdued and welcoming at the same time. We would definitely go there again.
