Being family run was an attraction but my wife had the prawn hotpot which was a specialty, and for $42 to have 5 small prawns was disappointing

Fantastic seafood. Group of 4 had crab arancini, duck spring rolls, scallops and seafood paella. As good as anywhere in Australia. Wish this restaurant was in Melbourne where I live.

Both of us had fantastic meals, only one word: excellent.

The service was really good and the food was great. Good value for money as well.

Starters were excellent; however, no mains dish arrived (seafood platter for 2), the next visit by a staff member was to offer us desert! We told her we will still waiting for our mains. The mains dish eventually arrived some 10 minutes later, but everything on the dish by this point was overcooked. The Barramundi was dry, octopus tough and bug well overdone. We were just too tired to actually make a complaint at the time as it was pushing towards 9pm. It was clear that the dish had been prepared and then forgotten to be served and left under a salamander where it overcooked. Disappointing.

Service and food were both really good and atmosphere was super nice

Dishes lacked flavour. Bruschetta just tasted like tomato. Service was not great. Had to ask to order, had to ask for empty glasses to be cleared. Had better dinners, will not be back.

Upon arrival the restaurant was alongside other restaurants so the vibe was good. I found most restaurants in Nelson's Bay average. Not fine dining style. Having said that the seafood was tasty. Partner had the seafood platter for 1 which is different the half of the player for 2. The 2 person platter had different variety of seafood compared to 1 person platter. I ate the seafood chowder entree sized. Very tasty and filled with seafood. Casual dining with decent food. Staff were polite.

Great hospitality by staff, met with smiles and attentive throughout our dining experience. Our meals arrived promptly and were delish. Lovely alfresco setting. Really enjoyed it all.

We were drawn to this restaurant due to the seafood specials on the blackboard outside as we walked past. What a find! It was some of the best meals we've had - the food, service and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely be back!

The seafood platter was the best ever. Just the right quantity of each seafood, tasty toppings, not padded out with too many chips.

Food ok, service was slow and wait staff borderline rude especially when trying to be seated with a reservation.

Poor service, waited over an hour and still hadn’t received our meals, left without receiving meals. Absolutely disappointing!

Sandpipers was good. Meals were very nice except Wifes steak was slightly over cooked (no complaining as they were busy), still ate and was nice she was just looking forward to a nice steak.

We have been to Sandpipers on New Years Eve for the last 5 years and numerous times during the year. This is by far the best restaurant in Port Stephens and we find it value for money.

We enjoyed a great experience there, as always! Very pleasant staff, speedy service and beautiful meals.

In my opinion the best overall restaurant in Port Stephens, don't expect Michelin star nonsense with a swish of this and a dollop of that on a huge white plate. The food is wonderfully cooked, very substantial & excellent value for money.
